Interesting post on Belief and Obedience in regards to a sermon the blogger heard where the priest had said altar rails were invented to keep the Protestants from Communion. This blog Deus Volent is new to me though it looks like it has been around for almost a year and is authored by a student at Thomas Aquinas College (an oasis of Catholic orthodoxy in California).

Can someone who is signed up to comment on it tell Joshua that virtually all the Latin on his blog, including its title, is ungrammatical?
I don’t suppose I’m missing something here, but how on earth would communion rails block Protestants from taking communion? Were they built to have some magical “Protestant-sniffing” abilities where they would rise up with special hydraulics and sound an alarm whenever a Protestant would approach? And why is it I see more altar rails in Anglican/Episcopal churches than Catholic?
Sweet! Where I can get those Prot-sniffing hydraulics? Now to try and convince Fr. we need to make a slight renovation…
If altar rails were invented to keep Protestants out, what were iconostases invented for?
Err… yes. It’s a good blog. Unfortunate about the Latin.
