Thanks for posting this. The combox whine from Ch of political protest about Todd of liturgical dancing over who had permission from Father when for that time slot in church was classic.
There’s only one thing wrong here. Both priests use “Father” on their signatures. This is very, very wrong. Neither would feel comfortable with it, and I’m sure they’d introduce themselves to everyone as “Tim” and “Juno.”
Really. Even to the RCIA class, if they have one.
But it’s rather spot-on! I think the real material is coming from SJA, which ought to be on the links as a sister-parish or something. Maybe this is the mission parish from SJA?
That’s high-laire. Very well done. Not too over-the-top but then not too subtle either (i.e. the Che stained glass windows would never make it even to the most heretical church). Same with the Horse Whisperer sermon. The parody is funny because it’s just on the edge of what is realistic, and that sermon is very realistic.
You’re on the right track but you miss a very important point about these Spirit of VC2 priests/religious. They are absolutely clerical to the bone and authoritarian all the way through the bone! Typically, they feign egalitarian motives while ruling out of their own “anti-authority” authoritarianism. They are the protean Fascistic Liberals. I know. I had to endure any number of them as profs in my seminary days…

This is WAY too realistic. You sure you didn’t just copy and paste a church bulletin from a campus Newman Center? 🙂
WAIT… this isn’t a joke, is it??
Um, where’s the parody?
I think I just got dumber after reading the homily.

I meant to say that the sermon, unlike the stained glass, is believable.
Also – good point Christine! “Father” is too patriarchical isn’t it?
Well, Jeff congrats on being the pres of the Mahony fan club.
Christine,
