Capitol Hill (CNSNews.com) – Pro-life groups took to the halls of Congress Tuesday in a surprise lobbying effort to support President Bush’s policies against taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion-related services overseas. The effort coincided with a highly organized lobbying campaign scheduled by pro-abortion organizations for the same day.
Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, said the goal of the effort was to convince lawmakers not to overrule the White House during the ongoing budget appropriations process.
“Our team has never done what we’re doing today with regard to these issues,” he said. “So we have the element of surprise. They do not know that we’re here, until now.”
