John 19:25-27
So the soldiers did this. But standing by the cross of Jesus
were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary
Mag’dalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing
near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the
disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his
own home.
Holy Mother of God,

they bear for their children.
Hail Mary…
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
intercede for them
from your place in
heaven,
that the mercy of your divine Son
might lighten their
burden
and give them strength.
Hail Mary…
Glory to the Father….
Pray for Fathers at the Birth of their Child
“At first I was
petrified,” Jon told me. “Petrified that I would faint or get in the way or not
know what to do to help Sarah. But then I prayed to Mary. I know, praying to
Mary is something you’d think a mother would be doing. But somehow, I think Mary
understood Saint Joseph more than anyone else. She probably saw the fear in his
eyes and sensed the restlessness of his heart. She probably spent a lot of time
praying for him as well. And when I prayed to Mary for my child about to be
born, I knew she understood and heard me and prayed for me to her son. At first
I was petrified, and then I put everything into God’s hands.”
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A woman, fired from her job at a
Costco store for refusing to remove her eyebrow ring, has sued the discount
retailer for $2 million, saying the company violated her religious
beliefs.
Kimberly M. Cloutier of West Springfield, Mass., said she
belongs to the Church of Body Modification, and that her piercings, which
include several earrings in each ear, are worn as a sign of her faith.

FONT color=#3333ff>Domestic partners Michael
Meehan and Thomas Dysarz worried over how the Roman Catholic church would
receive their quadruplets, given the doctrine that homosexual acts are sinful
and surrogate motherhood is prohibited.
But yesterday, the Rev. Paul Prabell blessed the men as
he would any other parents and baptized their 3-month-old quadruplets at
Lexington’s Cathedral of Christ the King.
“This is what Christ would do,” said Meehan, the
quadruplets’ biological father, after the ceremony. “He blessed people who were
cast out of the church. (The babies) are God’s children. That’s how the church
should view it.” [Full

Can. 868 1 For an infant to be baptized lawfully it is
required:
1 that the parents, or at least one of them, or the person who lawfully
holds their place, give their consent;
2 that there be a wellfounded hope that the child will be brought up in the
catholic religion. If such hope is truly lacking, the baptism is, in accordance
with the provisions of particular law, to be deferred and the parents advised of
the reason for this.
Matthew 1:18-23
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When
his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was
found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just
man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as
he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream,
saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that
which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you
shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All
this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, a
virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel”
(which means, God with us).

The Birth of the Virgin Mary – Pray for Mothers who will Give Birth
Today
“At first I as scared,” Sarah told me. “I was scared, excited and
filled with the most incredible expectation. It was like those words we hear at
Mass: we wait in joyful hope. I thought of all those women who feel the first
kick, the stirrings of life deep within them. I prayed for them, that they would
love their child, cherish their little baby and know that in being a mother they
are involved in something so much bigger than themselves. They have been chosen
by God to be custodians of the mystery of life. At first I was scared, and then
I just cried … with joy.”

From what I can tell, there’s a
weblog-combing robot working its way through the blogosphere, collecting
publicly-available e-mail addresses, and then sending spam and / or suspicious
attachments to other bloggers. I’ve gotten two e-mails from people about this
during my week- long absence.
To prevent this from happening to publicly available e-mail addresses such as
in weblogs do the following.
Replace your current mailto: line with the
following.:
<script

document.write("<a href='mailto:" + "som" +
"eone@som" + "ething.com'><b>E-Mail

The email
used in this example is someone@something.com and using the
document.write command it is broken up into pieces so that any weblog-combing
web-bot won’t recognize it as an email address.
I have updated this code since people have had probems. Placement of
quotes and single quotes is important.
The Democratic National Committee’s refusal to remove a
link on their website to a viciously anti-Catholic organization – the badly
misnamed Catholics For a Free Choice – despite demands from the head of the
National Council of Catholic Bishops that they do so reflects the trend of
Democrat Catholic-bashing now becoming increasingly obvious.
The latest example of this trend was the refusal of
Democrat Florida gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride to respond to a
questionnaire from the state’s official Catholic newspaper and two statewide
Catholic]organizations. [Full

Luke 7:11-15
Soon afterward he went to a city called Na’in, and his
disciples and a great crowd went with him. As he drew near to the gate of the
city, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his
mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from the city was with her. And
when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
And he came and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said,
“Young man, I say to you, arise.” And the dead man sat up, and began to speak.
And he gave him to his mother.

“As we contemplate this Mother, whose heart a sword has pierced’ (cf. Lk
2:35), our thoughts go to all the suffering women in the world, suffering either
physically or morally. In this suffering a woman’s sensitivity plays a role,
even though she often succeeds in resisting suffering better than a man. It is
difficult to enumerate these sufferings; it is difficult to call them all by
name. We may recall her maternal care for her children, especially when they
fall sick or fall into bad ways; the death of those most dear to her; the
loneliness of mothers forgotten by their grown-up children; the loneliness of
widows; the sufferings of women who struggle alone to make a living; and women
who have been wronged or exploited. Then there are the sufferings of consciences
as a result of sin, which has wounded the woman’s human or maternal dignity: the
wounds of consciences which do not heal easily. With these sufferings too we
must place ourselves at the foot of the Cross.” — Pope John Paul II (Mulieris
Dignitatem, 21)
Labor Day – Pray for the Suffering Women of the
World
Labor day usually brings to mind images of factory workers, farmers
or heavy equipment operators. Yet we also use labor to describe the first work
which brought each one of us to birth: those first hours of maternal sacrifice
which brought us into the world. It’s too easy to forget that and all the other
sacrifices which the vocation of motherhood entails. Pray for the mothers “in
labor” today. Those who give birth. Those who work two jobs to support a child.
Those who “go without” so their child’s needs are met. Those whose patient
endurance is a sign of God’s love upon the cross.
SANTA FE, New Mexico, Oct 23, 02 (CWNews.com) – The
Archdiocese of Santa Fe on Tuesday defended its decision to distribute a flier
highlighting the views of gubernatorial candidates on abortion at all its
parishes over the weekend.
The fliers, published by Right to Life of New Mexico,
highlighted Republican John Sanchez’s pro- life views in contrast to Democrat
Bill Richardson’s pro-abortion views. Father Bennett Voorhies, chancellor of the
archdiocese, said he apologized if the fliers were construed as an endorsement
of a candidate.
The flier detailed Richardson’s 1984-1997 record as
congressman from New Mexico and said: “Richardson’s record shows a lack of
respect for human life. As governor, he would not serve the people of New Mexico
on the life issues any better than he did as a congressman.”
Richardson has said he is a Catholic and is personally
opposed to abortion, but doesn’t believe the government should interfere in a
woman’s decision to have an abortion.
I am sick and tired of hearing the “personally opposed” crap, I wish they
would come up with a new lie. Bravo to the Archdiocese
of Santa Fe for their flyer. Unfortunately opposition to abortion almost
always eliminates all but one candidate and is an implied endorsement. Where are
the separation of church and state activists when it comes to the government
interfering with free speech rights in churches? Steven Riddle brought it to my
attention that in Mississippi in a couple
of races you actually have a choice between two 100% pro-life candidates. Massachusetts is
extremely pro-abort, even the Republicans are promoting the culture of death. I
think tomorrow would be a good day to start a pro-life novena for the Nov 5
election.
