Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle called yesterday for
one-time rebates of $300 per person, as much as $1,200 per family, as the
centerpiece of Senate Democrats’ economic stimulus plan. [Full Story]
Let’s see before on the original Bush Tax Cut he said the rich would be able
to buy a Lexus and those earning 50,000 dollars would be able to buy a muffler
for a used car. I remember that tax rebate was 300 to 600 dollars previously so
that means by his calculations his one time tax cut means each person could buy
a used car muffler. Now it was obvious that he has never shopped for a used car
muffler so we actually had more muffler for the buck then he proposed. Not
having a memory of previous comments must be very convenient in modern
politics.
I just remembered how much I like the words “Senate
Minority Leader Tom Daschle.”
