The site The Online Resource for John Paul II’s ‘Theology of the Body’ provides some good resources for studying the Pope’s theology. Articles by Christopher West and others help to give a good overview on this subject.
March 2003 — A new discovery on the Shroud of Turin by Alan
and Mary Whanger, major researchers on the Shroud since 1979, shows the image
of a second Crown of Thorns, one of the most famous objects in history.
In 1987 they identified the image of a large bonnet-style Crown of Thorns
over the right shoulder of the Man of the Shroud. The recently identified second
Crown is a circlet which matches the size and shape of the traditional and
well-known Crown of Thorns in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which is a
woven band of rushes with no thorns.
These discoveries help to authenticate the Shroud of Turin as well as to provide
important historical and archaeological evidence.

Steven Riddle of Flos Carmeli accepted
my request to participate in the Our
Lady of Loretto Carmelite Chapel group blog on the Carmelite way of prayer,
contemplation, and life. Being a follower of Marx (Groucho) my previous thought
process was
that I would not join any group blog which would have me as a member. At first
I thought this might be a trick by Steven to get me to have to post using blogger
again, but nobody would be that cruel.
My first post is
on the history of the
Carmelites and their beginning. For prayer requests that are posted on that
blog, email Steven and indicate
whether you want it to be anonymous or not.
Catholic World News has revamped their site and added a weblog called Off the Record. I am especially looking forward to the contribution by Fr. George Rutler who I greatly admire. His book the Cure D’ars Today was extremely well writen and really brought St. John Vianney alive for the reader.
The weblog will be available for free and the rest of the site is by subscription at $2.95 a month. You can get a 30 day free trial.
Randy Hofman is an artist who makes both religious sand sculptures and paintings. I don’t much like the style of his paintings but some of his sand sculptures are interesting.

Interesting article on the institution of a pedagogical philosophy
that goes by several names—“Constructivist Math,” “New-New
Math,” and, to its detractors, “Fuzzy Math.” in New York’s
schools.
Regrettably, in the heavily bureaucratized public schools, bad results do
not necessarily lead to re-evaluation. Fuzzy Math, cooperative
learning, and myriad
other educational fads are the pet projects of very influential, tenured university experts, who
fiercely protect their theoretical turf, in teachers colleges and among school
administrators. If test scores seem to rise thanks to Fuzzy Math, great: campus
enthusiasts will tout the results. If they stagnate or fall, the theoreticians
will find ways to poke holes in any critical study that blames the theory.

G.K. Chesterton once said something like: There will come
a time when teachers will teach using education theories that are younger than
their students.
