Enbrethiliel of Sancta Sanctis has an idea for a play that I whole-heartedly endorse.
I think that instead of the usual picketing and boycotting and letter-writing and all the other boring ways of protesting this, we Catholics should do something more fun and creative. We should write and produce a play of our own, something that reflects our values, and call it . . . The Virgin Monologues. It will be easy to find characters, as we have a calendar full of virgin saints. What will be more difficult is writing lines for them–which is why I’m not going to attempt it. The idea is here for anyone else who wants to try.
Maybe there are some aspiring Catholic playwrights who could write a play based on this idea. A series of monologues from various virgins and Saints could be really interesting. The question begged to be asked though if somebody did write a professionally written play like this (and I am not talking about schlock like the writing in the Left Behind movie), I wonder if any Catholic school would produce it. Unfortunately most of what is going on as theater today has the literary equivalence of a MTV produced half-time show.
Nominations are now being accepted for the St. Blog awards.
I thought I voted for Fr. Sibley but I might have accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan.
And by the way my site is spelled
The Curt Jester

Update: I just voted and it was really difficult to just pick only one person or group for each category. There are just so many excellent blog parishioners possible for each group. I hope that when the results are tallied that they display the blog names that came in 2nd and 3rd place in the listed categories.

I been within sight of land of many more countries while in the Navy but that doesn’t really count. I have seen the lights of Singapore eight times while going through the malacca straits, but never have set foot on land there..
After reading the Kathy Shaidle and Tim “Dean is more pro-life then Bush” Huegerich email exchange I have but one thing to say. I no longer want a Ann Coulter action figure and I hope they soon make a Kathy Shaidle one.

I also like how Disputations took one of Kathy’s sarcastic comments and turned it into a lesson in Thomistic thought.
Ceasing to be an idiot is a two-step process:
1. Realize what you don’t understand.
2. Don’t talk about what you don’t understand as though you understand it.
Good column by La Shawn Barber on why it is increased abstinence programs that are the true cause of the drop in teenage pregnancies.
