Dr. Thursdays posts part of a letter he sent to Pope John Paul II on the parallels of computing and the Papacy. This post is in part a response to my musings in Massively Parallel Magisterium.

…By the way, "Allahu Akbar" is the Muslim equivalent of an American Southern Baptist exclaiming "Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!" Except when Southern Baptists shout such things, they don’t leave burnt buildings and corpses in their wake.
Oh, and the aforementioned murder took place in Turkey, which, we are told, is a "moderate" Muslim country. Well, I’m glad to hear that. I guess that means that Fr. Santoro is only moderately dead.
Fr. Seraphim Beshoner, TOR latest podcast for Catholic Under the Hood had an interesting interview with Fr. Conrad Harkins, O.F.M the Vice Postulator for the The Five Franciscan Martyrs of Georgia who were martyrs for the sanctity of marriage. They learned the same lesson that John the Baptist learned for criticizing Herod. The official website for their cause is here along with information on the five men.
The podcast is here.

Now if you are not using Firefox and for instance are using Internet Explorer well all I can say is why? Lent is weeks away and unless you want a browser prone to security holes and like spyware use Firefox or an alternative browser instead.
A reader sent me this cool story about Rebecca Dussault a skier header to the Olympics who is Catholic and has a devotion to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
It is time for the 2006 Catholic Blog Awards and you can submit nominations for the various categories from now till 3:00 pm on Friday (talk about a loaded theological day and time).
I am going to have to do some serious thinking to come up with who I will nominate for best new blog, there are just too many to wean it down to just one. There are also some new categories this year such as most bizarre post.
So nominate your favorites for each category here.
Thanks again to Joshua R. LeBlanc of cyberCatholic.com who each year provides the framework for the awards.
Deus Caritas Est is up on the Vatican’s site and Gerald Augustinus has a little introduction of it.
Update: Strangely I am the number one hit for for search results for Deus Caritas Est at Google and MSN (at least for now).
Dawn Eden has finished her book and is back blogging. I hope her coverage of PP and NARAL will give them many sleepless nights. After all she scooped every one on their use of Michelangelo”s Creation of Adam for condom propaganda a week before Drudge picked it up. I was surprised to see this story even make it to my local news channel.
