And Sometimes Tea has a nice reflection/review of AMC’s The Walking Dead. I am also a fan of the show for many of the same reasons she suggests.

I’ve already admitted to being a Jimmy Akin fanboy, but his new podcasts is just so full of awesome sauce.
Over the years I have done a fair amount of coverage on the women’s ordination movement and one question I had was did support of women’s ordination technically constitute heresy. From the little research I did I could not definitively say yeah or nay, but leaned towards nay.
Jimmy goes through the technical issues which are many. The following are his show notes for the documents he referenced. This is a very good look at the subject of what heresy is and what would formally constitute heresy.

Before Father Dwight Longenecker started a blog or was ordained a priest I fell in love with a book of his. I reviewed Adventures in Orthodoxy some years ago. I bring this up because Fr. Longenecker is having a sale of this book due to some covers with slightly inferior print quality. Recommended.
Catholic Courses is a new business which is making available audio CDs and DVDs on a range of topics including theology, history, literature, the saints, scripture, and philosophy. These courses look well-while and are taught by Professors Joseph Pearce, Thomas J. Craughwell, Benjamin Wiker, and Regis Martin.
Also worth reading is a three part series on “Evil in the Hobbit” by Paul at Alive and Young.
Joe as Defend Us in Battle has an intriguing post on Blogging Charisms.
The Holy Father has written a new apostolic letter for the induction of the Year of Faith. The Year of Faith will start on 11 October 2012, the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. As always this is well-worth reading as is everything from our catechist-Pope.
Carl Olson takes a look at some of the coverage of Steve Jobs death and also takes a look at his commencement address at Stanford University in 2005. I have heard and seen references to this speech multiple times cited as a great speech full of wisdom. Truly as Carl shows the speech was so cliche-ridden and vapid it shines a light on secular hope and what people can think of as substantive.
Carl, a lifetime Mac user, post is well worth reading as it contrasts the coverage full of “eulogistic words.”
Do you run a Catholic blog, or is it more like a Catholic blahhhhg? Do you wish you had more readers? Is your Sitemeter daily count smaller than Kate Middleton’s waist size, and you wish it would expand (the daily count, not KM’s waist)? Does your combox have more robo-generated spam comments selling shoes and junk than comments left by actual people?
I’ve been a long time fan of the Catholic Underground podcast pretty much since the first episode some years ago. Each week Fr. Ryan Humphries, Father Christ Decker, Joshua Leblanc, along with other hosts bring us a show on technology, the culture, and news of the Church.
The idea of having a conference on spreading the Gospel and it’s intersection with the digital continent was one that was discussed on the show over a period of time and it is now coming fully in fruition in Houston, Tx between 26-28 of August 2011. This convention has both exhibitors and various training sessions addressing both the tech and content sides of using technology in the spread of the Gospel. All at a very reasonable conference fee of $35. Even better Fr. John Zuhlsdorf will be the keynote speaker and others will be involved such as Matthew Warner. There is a particular liturgical dimension to this conference and Mass will be offered in both the Ordinary and Extra Ordinary Form along with Vespers.
I should have posted about this earlier, but I didn’t partly out of embarrassment. I would like nothing better than to be able to attend the conference myself to meet the crew of the Catholic Underground and of course the great Father Z and others who attend. So I feel rather bad about not being able to attend.

Jennifer Fulwiler at ConverionDiary.com was nice enough to invite me to her “The Our Father, Word by Word” series of posts on each word of the Our Father by guest bloggers.
I picked the first incidence of “Forgive” to write on because those who have been forgiven much, love much – or at least try to.
