With the deadline having just passed within minutes of my writing
this post, I think that whether we believe in the justness/unjustnest of the
war in Iraq we can all share the same action, prayer. I believe that disarmament
in this case is just, but I am glad that I am not the one responsible for having
to make that call. After spending 20 years in the Navy and also generally being
a firm supporter of the President I have to watch my biases as to their influences
on my opinion.
I believe that the eventual removal of Saddam Hussien and his
cronies and the implementation of democracy in Iraq will lead to
peace in the region. I also pray that their is proportionality in our actions
and that the result of this will truly improve peoples lives there. Not being
any kind of expert on the people and culture of Iraq I can’t say what the likelyhood
of this really is.
What I do know is that I can contibute to this effort through
prayer. This being Lent the atmosphere is already there, yet I am going to
try to spend more time in prayer for the intercession of peace and justice
in Iraq.
