The Bishop of my Diocese of St. Augustine, Fl, Bishop Victor Galeone, has written an excellent letter on marriage and contraception called Marriage: A Communion of Life and Love. What is even more amazing than a bishop writing a column on contraception is that he quotes from a woman who changed her mind on the issue and now agrees with church teaching. What is amazing about that is that the article appeared in the National Catholic Reporter, who would have thunk it.
The only problem with my Bishop is his first name. When ever they recite it during Mass another Victor comes to mind, which always causes me to inwardly chuckle. My propensity for punning also gets in the way during Mass and I have thought about the Agnus Dei and the Lams of God.
