(Funny you never see a sign with Rom 1 :26-27 on it)
They stood in love and silence, speaking only to tell each other how cold they were in the snowy, windy conditions.
The dozen or so protesters outside the Woodbury County Courthouse during Monday’s noon hour urged unity among people of all faiths and sexual orientations. It was a contrast to the group that had occupied the same northwest corner of the block earlier in the morning.
About a dozen picketers from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., finished their weekend of protests throughout Sioux City by standing outside the courthouse in protest to District Judge Jeffrey A. Neary’s recent decision to dissolve a civil union between two lesbians.

“They stood in love and silence.” WIth a beginning sentence like that you know right away about the reporters views on the subject. Though I can’t much blame him for contrasting this with the idiots from Westboro Baptist Church home of the the unchristian godhatesfags site. Dietrich von Hildebrand and his wife Alice oft mention that truth does not lie between two extremes, but rises above it.
I have found the sign of the rainbow highly ironic for the homosexual movement. In Genesis 9 after the earth was flooded because “that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”, God set the rainbow as a sign of his covenant with man. I am not saying the flood was directly caused by homosexual acts, but it was certainly the results of sexual immorality. I put all acts of sexual immorality such as fornication, adultery and homosexuality pretty much on the same footing, though adultery is worse than fornication and it can be argued that homosexually acts are even graver. But they are all grave sins and can cause the loss of sanctifying grace in the souls of those who act thus. Yet their are no pro-fornication or pro-adultery protests going on and no open movements demanding that the Church change on these issues. If homosexual activists are trying to put these same-sex relationship at the same level of sacramental matrimony then why aren’t they crying out against homosexual fornication before marriage? Neither are they protesting when they breakup their longterm committed relationship as in this very court case.
The scriptural arguments proposed by those who endorse homosexual acts I find to be ridiculous. That the scriptures condemned only homosexual acts that aren’t part of a committed relationship is especially lacking both in scripture and tradition. If God truly saw homosexual acts in a committed relationship as something that could be moral, then it is rather strange that in 73 books of the Bible, God could not include one example of a homosexual couple in a committed relationship. Quite an oversight on the editorship of the Holy Spirit to leave that out. Jesus also seems to have forgotten to mention this to the Apostles so that it could be passed down in Apostolic tradition.
We have come to this current state because we sat idly by while divorce razed through the families of America. That we passed no-fault divorce with no cries of alarms. That fornication and civil divorce and remarriage has become the norm. The future needs no prophet to see the consequences of the destruction of married life and the family. Stanley Kurtz’s shows us are future in The End of Marriage in Scandinavia

That’s a great point on the rainbow – I hadn’t thought of that before. In Atlanta we have a fairly large “all-gay” church. I keep wondering what they teach on Sunday (it’s non-denominational).
God bless,
Jay
Nice post, Jeff.
Dear Jeff,
They never cite Matthew 10:34-39 either, do they?
I’ve noticed that everyone always mentions, in regards to homosexuality, that there are no pro-adulterer or pro-fornicator groups out there. But has anyone ever stopped to consider why? I think the reason is because a huge number of gays truly believe that they were born with that orientation. I am an ex-gay myself (if you want to read my story, check out “The Crumbling of an Illusion” on my website!) and I know full well what it is to feel trapped by your sexuality, by desires that you never wanted to have. And I know also what it is to be rejected by your family and your church because they haven’t transcended their visceral homophobia and recognized you as a child of God. So basically, what I’m saying is: please at least consider the idea that one’s sexual *orientation* is not something that can be controlled. If you truly believe that celibacy is what God wants for gays, then present your arguments from a place of concern and friendship, not condemnation and disgust. You might be surprised how many people who would otherwise tune you out will listen. Thanks.
