A reader sent me a link to this story.
A STUDENT is so hard up she has decided to make the ultimate sacrifice …she is selling her virginity to the highest bidder on the internet.
So far more than 400 men, many of them sickos, have placed bids offering 18-year-old Rosie Reid up to 10,000 for sex.
The drastic action has left Rosie’s parents sickened. Her doctor dad has told her she “is selling her soul”. Her nurse mum is outraged.
And Rosie is even willing to sleep with a man despite it being abhorrent to her-she is a LESBIAN.
But she would rather prostitute herself than see her studies suffer.

Whew! I was about to lose my breakfast over this story when the British pound sign had me pausing. I clicked, hoping this was from one of the sleazy Brit tabloids that would shame the objective journalists over at the National Enquirer and Star.
Well, I’ve never heard of News of the World, so I don’t know its octane level for sleaze, but any paper that advertises cash for stories loses a lot of credibility in my eyes. Unless you happen to know British papers better than I do, Jeff, I suggest sticking to the London Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian.
Well, at least the editors of the article are saying “Don’t do it, Rosie.”

Gotta love that “many of them sickos” aside. As opposed to all the healthy-minded men willing to pay $18,000 to have sex with a virgin lesbian.
There is really nothing wrong with this as it is “consensual” sex, a virtue. If you oppose this poor little girl then you are intolerant–a vice.
Rosie said: “The way things are going, I’ll leave university 15,000 in debt. That’s why I’m taking drastic action.”
15,000! Boooo hoooo hooo. Hoooo. Many of us suffer the equivalent of 15,000 in debt after 1 or 2 years of college, and I daresay most of us aren’ whoreing outselves out to the top bidder.
First, I wonder why she doesn’t pursue scholarship money.
Second, I can’t help wondering about this oh-so-very-supportive relationship she has with her lover, who apparently has a good job but isn’t willing to commit herself to the extent of helping this woman she’s so in love with to achieve her goals. My committed lover (my husband) wouldn’t dream of not supporting me, both emotionally *and* financially, in achieving my goals.
Finally, I wonder how this unworried lover will feel if Rosie discovers that she actually enjoys heterosexual intercourse. I’d find the whole thing very ironically funny if she found herself changing boats once she’s experienced real sex. Part of me suspects that her sale is more to satisfy a desire or a curiosity than she’s willing to admit to her lover.
Rosie’s lover (that would be me by the way) works freelance, so there is no guarenteed income to support her with. A fact that is very rarely reported. Her parents also earn less than has been stated.
Sexuallity is about more than the physical relationship two people have, its not just about sex and to think that is very naive. If I didnt trust and support her then I wouldn’t be worth anything as a partner or a friend.
