A conversation over at the H.M.S. weblog was on pig races. This reminded me of one of my favorite stories. Heading back to the U.S. after a six month deployment on the U.S.S. America we had to cross-deck weapons and equipment with the carrier relieving us on station. The ship had bought some live pigs at Rota Spain and painted them and greased them up. I remember seeing them on the hangar deck wondering what they were going to do with them. They took them over by helo and then released them on the flight deck of the other carrier. The film of the various flight deck personnel chasing after and trying to catch these pigs was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

So, did the demons enter the pigs’ bodies and throw them off the edge of the carrier?
Well, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen the Pig n’ Ford races.
