But the popularity of religious fashion has some concerned. They say reducing faith to a slogan on a shirt is far too simplistic and cheapens the message.”
I must say my youngest daughter has this shirt. It is one of her favorites. She has had to defend it on a couple of occations. Not from other Catholics but from teachers who have questioned it for being religious. She was asked to wear another shirt and maybe not wear it to school again. That would be best they said. My daughter said , “So if I had a t-shirt with the devil on it that would be Ok?” The teacher said,” The devil is only a myth, and most people don’t even believe in him. He’s after all not a religious statement” My daughter said, ” That’s exactly what he wants you to think.” When you have a 13 year old stepping up and defending her faith and the right to show it…well…I think she can wear her shirt. Disrespect for the Blessed Mother? I think not. Not here.
I like it as well. I don’t think by having a slogan t-shirt, then all of a sudden your faith is reduced to a slogan. It’s not like we could have t-shirts with all of Canon Law on them.
I want one.
Good for your dd Lucy.
Here’s an e-pat-on-the-back going out to your daughter…
I hace anoter shirt that says “The Pope is Dope” with a similarly-drawn likeness of a pope on it (not JPII/B16 specifically, just a popish figure) that I wear all the time, out of true affection for the pope. Even at Notre Dame I get odd stares, people being somehow offended in either direction. Oh well, I’ll continue to wear it regardless… perhaps next time into a public school.

The only people I know who wear these shirts are hardcore athiests. They wear them as symbols of irony.
