Because of a list of quotes that have recently been propagated concerning Rudolph Giuliani past statements he has responded. He clarified the comment regarding the theoretical case of his daughter seeking an abortion as being taken out of context.
DONAHUE: You have apparently found yourself on the great trap door called abortion. And not a few so-called experts believe that the agonized approach that you’ve brought to this issue accounts for the decline in your position in the polls.
GIULIANI: Maybe people don’t understand that I didn’t start all this as a politician would start it, with some canned answer. I thought about it a lot. In my discussion of it, I may have thought out loud a bit.
I’ve said that I’ll uphold a woman’s right of choice, that I will fund abortion so that a poor woman is not deprived of a right that others can exercise, and that I would oppose going back to a day in which abortions were illegal.
I do that in spite of my own personal reservations. I have a daughter now; if a close relative or a daughter were pregnant, I would give my personal advice, my religious and moral views . . .
DONAHUE: . . . . Which would be to continue the pregnancy.
GIULIANI: Which would be that I would help her with taking care of the baby. But if the ultimate choice of the woman – my daughter or any other woman – would be that in this particular circumstance [if she had] to have an abortion, I’d support that. I’d give my daughter the money for it.
And if that’s my private resolution of it, that’s the way I have to resolve it publicly. [END OF EXCERPT]
That clarification will really assure pro-lifers as if having "personal concerns" about it and encouraging to keep the baby first is in any way acceptable. If "personal concerns" allow you to pay for the death of your own grandchild then sponges have more moral convictions.

So for all practical purposes his position is totally indistinguishable from Hillary Clinton’s, she of the 100% NARAL rating. I’m actually glad I got this “clarification.” It assures I’ll never get suckered by talk of his being a “moderate” on abortion.
Hi,
Catholic bloggers (or anyone)who want to Fast for Terri, or go on Hunger Strike, are invited sign up at the St. Blog’s Parish Hall. The list of prayers for Terri will be sent to the Schiavos as a spiritual bouquet.
Prayers for the soul of all people involved in this case, and the Culture of Death at large, are also greatly needed.
God have mercy.
In Christ, Mary

when it comes to abortion, you’re either for it or agin it, period. being “moderate” on abortion is akin to being “sort of” pregnant.
I disagree. I think that it is possible to be a moderate on abortion. I also think it’s a monstrous position. But it’s one with which we can at least empathize. That is, it’s possible to see how a person of reasonably healthy conscience can reach something like a moderate conclusion. It so happens that it is a confused sort of tenderheartedness, since it does seek to pursue multiple goods, whereas the extreme pro-abort position seeks to sacrifice all in the pursuit of a single good (namely, a comfortable sort of freedom).
The moderate position is less manic in this way, and is distinguishable in important ways from the more severe NARAL-style position. Having acknowledged this, we mustn’t allow ourselves to be suckered by its apparent humanism. In point of fact, the middle-ground on abortion is the least logically tenable, since it concedes the essential rights of the child, then goes ahead with sending him into the jaws of Moloch. In this way, I do not think it a compliment to call a person an abortion moderate–it is actually an appelation of a deeply muddled moral cowardice.
