A worshipper suffered two deep wounds to the head and a cut lip after he was attacked by a robber wielding a chair leg.
The victim was reciting rosary, kneeling in the chapel area of Our Lady of Willesden Roman Catholic Church in Nicoll Road, Harlesden, when he was hit over the head by a would-be robber, who eventually fled empty-handed.
Father Steven Willis from the church told the police the suspect had done some ‘odd jobs’ around the church in exchange for shelter. [Source]
The assault was bad enough, but he could have liturgically timed it better. Hitting someone over the head with a chair leg would have been more appropriate on the Feast of The Chair of St. Peter.
