Here is my phony image of the Pope in a papal golf cart from my World Misspent Youth Day parody.
Here is a picture from the AP of Global Electric Motorcars’a newly delivered electric car which will be used be Pope Benedict XVI for the small trip inside the Vatican, [Via Friary Notes]
Is there such a thing as prophetic parody? If so maybe I can be the punning papist prophet of parody.

Wow, you really scored a hole in one with that one Jeff!
A smaller, purer car for a smaller, purified Church. (Lord have “Mercy” on that gas-guzzler to the left!)
Now there are four seats in the buggy. I reckon Papa could use this little machine for Papal chats with visiting Cardinals. “Kardinal M, vood you come vis me for a ride, and tell me about zat new Kaseedral of yours.” (the back seats would be for the Pope’s makeshift library – “Could you just reach back and grab zat copy of “Spirit of ze Liturgy” for me. I’ve marked ze page for you.”)
The danger of the additional row of seats is allowing certain cardinals to sit in them, who may attempt “back seat pontificating.”
Pshaw!!!
Now that little buggy is just so damned cute!!!
No registration plates, though; not that I suspect it will be a problem for the Holy Father…
Maybe Papa Ratzi will even blog about tootling around in it one day…!
I now pronounce thee the official “Prophetic Parodic Papal Punster”! (Now say that 5 times fast)
(And yes, that’s one cute buggy!)
I think the papal “logo” on the front of the hood is darling. But look at the back seats. Just like most cars out there, there’s no leg room.
Maybe they’ll be kneeling on them, Lucy, as they should in such august company; even though that’s pretty unsafe from a road safety point-of-view…!
“Popebuggy” or “PopeRover”…! Maybe we can soon buy smaller versions of them as toys or commemmoratives, too!
No room for the piano!
Although, it WOULD be a hoot to see him toodling about on Italian beaches in his new dune buggy. I understand he wears some pretty happenin’ sunglasses to go with the whole surfer dude ensemble.
Beach Blanket Benedict BINGO!
oops, Jack beat me to the “tootling”
Episcopalians are jealous of Pope Benedict’s special wheels. I have suggested a vehicle for the Presiding Bishop of ECUSA at http://wafflinganglican.blogspot.com/2005/09/keeping-up-with-latins.html
I can’t tell because of the glare: is there a rosary hanging from the rear-view mirror?
Bad Teresa! Bad bad!
It sadly isn’t copyright though, so your finances are safe… (darn it!).
Those sunglasses make him look like a Terminator… Say… You don’t think…??? Naaaahhhh, couldn’t be; real Terminators speak English with Teutonic accents…
Hasta la vista, heretics!
Oh, and if you’re on that beach, Teresa, you’d better be wearing that one-piece black swimsuit, (and towel over your head?!) as would be proper!
Jack, my patron, Teresa of Avila, informs me that the proper Carmelite bathing attire would be brown, accompanied by a waterproof scapular (white towel on head for novices, black towel for those who have taken final vows). And as we are discalced, our feet are well prepared for beach service!!
But Jack, I urge you to develop a line of swimwear for our Dominicans… white bathing suits simply do NOT work!
Waffling Anglican: Love the Bishop of ECUSA-mobile! There appears to be room for… eh hem… ALL!
