Today with Palm Sunday coinciding with April Fools day I wondered if there was any connection. It could possibly have been an early April Fools joke and would explain the "Hosanna in the highest" one day and less than a week later "Crucify him."
Though trying to pull a prank on an omniscient God-man is impossible. Mary and Jesus’friends never could pull off a surprise birthday party no matter how hard they tried. Besides what can you get someone who made everything. In fact Jesus is the world’s only self-made man.

I had the same thought.
The Palm Sunday Mass involves both the “Hosanna” Gospel (before the procession) as well as the “Crucify him!” Gospel (the Gospel of the Mass).
Because of that, and because today is April 1, you don’t have to wait until Good Friday to pull a cruel “April Fool” on the Lord.
“Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!”
“April Fool!”
“Crucify him! Crucify him!”
All in the space of one Mass!
That is what we do every time we sin.
On a serious note:
Hosanna and Crucify

Hmmm, and here I thought it was Frankenstein who was self-made….hee hee.
Next week Jesus plays a BIG April Fool’s joke on Satan
I’ve always found a lot of irony in Holy Week-the same people who shouted “HOSANNA” at the beginning of the week would be yelling “CRUCIFY HIM” by the end of it…
At the indult Latin Mass I attended Palm Sunday the Fraternity of St. Peter priest who offered it gave us this advice: “Don’t be a part of the fickle crowd-stay close to Our Lady and St. John.”
Tolkien1138,
You said it! The baddies thought that they sent Jesus to Hell, only hear His disciples proclaim the truth: He is risen!
And what could be dumber, from an outsiders view, than guarding a dead Man’s body?
