L.A. Catholic notes a major bit of irony in Cardinal Mahony celebrating a "Cesar Chavez Mass" basically for illegal immigrants. Chavez was as anti-illegal immigrant as they come and he would make Tom Tancredo seem liberal on the subject by comparison.

It’s my understanding that Cesar Chavez was also a very devout Catholic who makes Cardinal Mahony look Unitarian by comparison. So as we see, irony abounds in LA.
Just a bit of information about Tancredo… he’s an anti-Catholic bigot. Do some Google on him and see his contempt for anything Catholic.

And let’s not forget that Cesar has his brother form gangs to beat the crap outta illegals, so they wouldn’t compete in the fruit and vegetable fields.

Tancredo is NOT anti-Catholic! I’ve read the sources you’re talking about. They are anti-Tancredo. Tancredo hates what is being passed off as Catholic teaching: pro-illegal immigration. He may not be able to separate this in his mind, but we should.
