Dawn Eden sent me this latest bit of Planned Parenthood activism.
Join the Planned Parenthood Pill Patrol and ensure women in your neighborhood have access to EC.
Just last week, we learned that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Office of Women’s Health, which was at the center of the fight to make EC available over the counter, just had more than one-quarter of its operating budget cut. Now people are asking — is this payback for the prolonged EC controversy?
Over the past three years, Planned Parenthood has worked with large pharmacy chains, urging them to change their policies to stock EC and ensure that women can access their birth control in-store, without discrimination or delay. Some pharmacies, like CVS, have stepped up to the plate, changed their policies, and worked to ensure that those policies are enforced to protect their customers. Other pharmacies have flatly refused to adopt such policies. In the wake of EC going over the counter, Planned Parenthood has had numerous reports of women being denied access in their pharmacies. We are asking for your help. Today, Planned Parenthood is launching the next phase of its campaign to protect women’s health — a nationwide grassroots effort to ensure that EC is available in every neighborhood in America.
Sign up to survey a pharmacy in your area now.
During the month of March, Planned Parenthood needs hundreds of volunteers to join its Pill Patrol and attempt to purchase emergency contraception at neighborhood Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, and Supervalue/Osco stores.
Joining the Pill Patrol is easy. When you sign up to survey a store in your neighborhood, you’ll receive an activist toolkit that includes easy instructions, a script, and a phone number to call if you have any questions.
Isn’t their support of EC a tacit admission that their quest to make sure that not only that everyone is sexually active, but already taking a contraceptive pill a failure? Or do they want people to come to rely on EC which would have a lower effectiveness and when it fails they will pick them up on the rebound in one of their abortion clinics?
As for the supposed budget payback, I wish that was actually true. The idea that birth control pills require a prescription, but that a stronger dosage of the same thing doesn’t is pure insanity. Though I am sure they will turn it into an argument to make the pill OTC also.

Tragedy here is that it’s going to start causing long term health problems for women who will not only be killing their babies but also themselves…they are the guinea pigs and they don’t know it.
Wait! Wasn’t EC the publisher of those “Tales from the Crypt” comics in the 50s? Coincidence? HA!
Subtext is key here.

Oy. What an evil organization.
Speaking of which, an in-law of mine just started working for this organization. What’s more, evidently this was a lifelong dream of this individual. I guess “so what’s new with you” should be a topic of avoidance at our next dinner conversation.
You wouldn’t believe the number of women we see at our crisis pregnancy center who are pregnant after PP provided them with contraceptives. The majority of these women have no idea how dangerous it is to have sex and to take use the contraceptives they are given. PP tells them nothing about the dangers or the side effects.
Yes, of course they encourage sexual activity for everyone they see so they can make the big bucks from performing abortions and as an added feature – the more clients they have the more money they get – from taxpayers. They sell sex to all, but especially lure the young – our children. They are the pimps who promote sex to our young people. You’re right – they have all the angles worked out. No matter how bad things turn out for the clients – they can’t lose. They make money in every situation.
I’m happy to see their budget was cut – I think that this was most likely due to all the people who were signing petitions and writing their congressmen about taxpayers paying for abortions. ALL and STOP Planned Parenthood as well as all the bloggers played a big part in this.
To be fair, the reason they require a prescription for birth control pills is to force women to go to a doctor and get a Pap smear (which has nothing to do with birth control pills, but everything to do with cervical cancer.) It has nothing to do with the side effects of the pill (though they are real and dangerous, and I know many women who had to get off the pill due to the health consequences.)
Here is a problem: with the new HPV vaccine, women are going to think that they no longer need to get Pap smears (not true — the vaccine only covers a couple of the cancer-causing HPV strains, and most cervical cancer deaths are due to women who don’t get Pap smears already). Taking birth control pills every day is an annoyance, too, so many women will just pay for the EC pills instead of doing the regular pills. So fewer women are going to go to the GYNs due to these two factors, and I wouldn’t be the least surprised if cervical cancer deaths actually increase as a confluence of these two things.
Way to go, Planned Parenthood.
I think we should all pick a local pharmacy, and contact PP “volunteering” to investigate it. We would do no such thing, but tell PP we did, and that the EC was readily available.
I get so angry when I read something like this. Most people I know are ignorant concerning the pill and just need a little instruction. PP OTOH, is EVIL- they are sneaky and smarmy. I was taken in by them when I was 16 and wanted to get on the pill–it was a piece of cake. And they seemed so nice and caring. Sometimes evil can look so decent. But eventually, they expose themselves for what they really are. PP is getting bolder–hopefully, just the regular person on the street can see through their tactics. We must continue to pray for PP’s demise!
Sorry for the rant!
Maybe we should sit back and wait for the results of the PP survey. Then we can boycott the PP-approved stores and support the others. 🙂
