AirMaria.com has an in depth article on the Motu Proprio titled Exorcising the Spirits of Confusion: Summorum Pontificum and the End of Liturgical Freelancing. The article contrasts Sister Joan Chittister ill informed commentary on the document with the actual documents of Vatican II and previous documents of the Church. This is a very good article.
Another false dichotomy

AirMaria.com is a very good source for daily homilies and other worthy items of religious interest. It is one to bookmark!
women, who are now pointedly left out of the Eucharistic celebration
I love this line. I’m not old enough to know firsthand, but I suspect allowing laity, let alone women, to distribute the Eucharist (never mind anything else in the sanctuary) was the innovation, not the ancient practice.
Has anyone made the “it’s a good thing they’ve liberalized the roles performed during mass; there wouldn’t be enough priests to do everything” argument yet? It seems too facile to pass up, but so far I’ve failed to notice it.
May God bless abundantly all those who have the strength to argue with Sr C, one falsehood at a time. As my grampa used to say “My head, my head…please, the noise…my head.”
“The ministerial priest, by the sacred power he enjoys, teaches and rules the priestly people; acting in the person of Christ, he makes present the eucharistic sacrifice, and offers it to God in the name of all the people.”
I wonder whether a certain person would explode if the above words were repeated to her slowly and clearly, with the authority of an apostle.
