This is the perfect short story for the Memorial of St. Nicholas, “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus”
This short story by John C. Wright touches on St. Nicholas of Myra, the Communion of Saints, suffering, and wraps up wonderfully. The story has brought tears to my eyes even on a reread.
This was later published in his short story collection “The Book of Feast & Seasons”.

Two atheist were talking to each other … the first atheist after having used his speed reading abilities to get through “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus” said; How silly humans are to believe in such stories like this one. The other atheist after having read the same story while using a little empathy replied; What if there really is a little truth to these Christmas stories?
Go Figure!
Thanks for sharing and truth be known, this is the first time I’ve read “IT” and also could not hold back my tears.
God bless you and yours Jeff
