Towards the end of last year, I returned to go to meetings for lay Carmelites (OCDS). I started doing this on my way into the Church almost twenty years ago, but life got in the form of being able to attend meetings.
So with this new group, I am going to be starting from scratch and going through the process again. That was the decision made by the priest in charge of our group. I have no problem with this as I see it as returning to the basics. All the more so, since this group has a religious as a spiritual assistant. The first group I was part of did not have specific training for aspirants. It was less organized and any instruction given, was given to all. So it is great being part of a group of people going through this together. It is always amazing to think you know something and find out all the things you did not know.
Recently I have gotten a greater appreciation for getting back to basics. I had dabbled off and on playing the guitar over the years, but never really advancing much. So I started a course initially via YouTube that is detailed, went through the basics and built on this little by little. Again I was amazed at how much I was learning regarding skills I thought I had already learned.
One thing this guitar course has focused on for me is demolishing the idea of talent as only something that is inate. That if you are not a natural, or born with this skill – then you just aren’t going to get far with it. This view was something I already partly knew. I remember Fr. Dubay some years ago focusing on this where he interviewed a bunch of people in different fields who were at the top of their trades. Again and again, the stories were of people that had to work hard at developing their skills, and that usually it did not come naturally to them. So I am relearning this, even as I already knew that in my career I had achieved some mastery of things, by working on them.
The idea of 30 minutes of mental prayer a day was pretty scary for me. I envisioned 29 to 30 minutes of distractions. Chesterton’s “If it’s worth doing, it is worth doing badly” is handy because the truth to this is not to worry about doing it poorly. The context of what Chesterton said was in the context of hobbies, but I think it is applicable generally. That doing it badly over and over again will lead to doing it less “badly.” Practice doesn’t make perfect; it makes it less “bad.” Although the lesson he gives is to do things worth doing, spending that time in prayer is worth doing.
Note: The guitar course I was referring to is from is from Erich Andreas at YourGuitarSage. The video’s on YouTube along with the free 30 lesson beginner course are an intro to sell the paid training course and system I have found his teaching style to be encouraging without falling into motivational speaker lingo. There are plenty of such offerings now on the internet. I just saw his teaching style and methodological approach to be very helpful for me.

The red is not an exception to the blue’ : new extraordinary understanding of Vatican Council II
We have a dramatic, extraordinary and new understanding of Vatican Council II which was always there before our very eyes but no one noticed it.Or if they did, they kept quiet.
The 50- year- old stereotypes of Vatican Council II being a revolution etc are over.
‘The red is not an exception to the blue’. This is the new code.It is the hidden clue.
The old one was ‘The red is an exception to the blue’.
Everything hinges on this.
The New Theology was based upon the red being a rupture with the orthodox blue.
We now know that the red passages are hypothetical. Always hypothetical.
They are only possibilities, theoretical and speculative.
They do not refer to personally known people in 2018-2019.
‘Zero cases of something cannot be exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS)’ confirms John Martignoni , the apologist at EWTN.Archbishop Thomas E Gullickson papal nuncio to Switzerland and Liechtenstein and Fr.Stefano Visintin osb, theologian-physicist and rector of the University of St. Anselm, Rome – AGREE WITH HIM.
The passages in red are ‘zero cases’.
They do not contradict the past exclusive ecclesiology and an ecumenism of return. The Council is no more a rupture with the Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX or the teaching on all needing to be members of the Catholic Church for salvation ( Catechism of Pope Pius X ).
The red never was an exception to the blue. But this was how the liberals and ecclesiastics interpreted the Council and the conservatives and traditionalists, wrongly followed.
Now we know that the blue is no more contradicted by red passages in Lumen Gentium 8 as was suggested by Cardinal Luiz Ladaria sj, at the Placquet Deo , Press conference ( March 1, 2018).
The blue passages and EENS are no more contradicted by the red passages in LG 16 and GS 22 of Vatican Council II. This was a mistake Pope Benedict and Cardinal Ladaria made in two papers of the International Theological Commission, Vatican. They were wrong and Fr. Leonard Feeney of Boston was correct.
Fr. Leonard Feeney was saying that there are no literal cases of the baptism of desire(LG 14) etc. The red does not refer to literal cases and so could not have been practical exceptions, or even relevant, to EENS.
This means our entire understanding of Vatican Council II has changed. Move over Bugnini and Bea. The Council has gone back to ‘the pre-Vatican Council II times’. The ‘Conciliar Church’ today is traditional and Feeneyite. This is a whopper for the prudent and politically correct within the Church.
It is Vatican Council II which is part of the seismic shift and it is not just going back to Tradition and EENS.The Council has changed before our very eyes.
‘The red is not an exception to the blue.’ I like that sound.
‘The red is not an exception to the blue’. Mama mia! Everything has changed. This is unbelievable!.

In Magisterial documents the red is not an exception to the blue, the red does not contradict the blue : with the blue there is a hermeneutic of continuity with Tradition (16th- century extra ecclesium nulla salus, the Syllabus of Errors, ecumenism of return, past exclusivist ecclesiology etc)

Jeff! At this time I also believe that practice doesn’t make any of us perfect even if we keep practicing “I” mean practi sing in my older years doesn’t seem to turn me, me and me on much nowadays although I take pleasure of knowing that when Jesus Christ comes in Glory with Shouts of Acclamation to take me home, i am very hopeful that my heart might start to practice singing for Eternity: My Lord my ‘Loving Old Redeeming Dad’ How Great Thou Art…
Hey don’t tell any body, “I” mean anybody that if we practice and/or practise Praying long enough and if we can con, “I” mean convince our Con Science “I” mean convince our Conscience through countless sincere prayers that our soul, our spirit can become “ONE” with our Flesh just like The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are also “ONE”. Long story short, Every time YA receive The Body and Blood at The Last Supper, “I” mean at MASS, just try to believe that each and every one of YAR cells have the opportunity to sit on the laptop, “I” mean with a sincere heart GOD (Good Old Dad) could make “IT” possible through “PRAYER”… each of our godly cells will have the opportunity as a tiny, tiny, tiny human cell to tell GOD’s SON in time while sitting on ‘HIS LAP’… Although we really have not seen, we must believe…
I’ll try closing by saying that even after 100 PER SENT, “I” mean 100% of our Flesh Praying and all are on board, “I” mean “ONBOARD”… we must then convince our soul and our spirit to do the same but longer story shorter, we have all of Eternity to Practice Praying but never forget that all of us (usual sinners) have The Body and Blood of Christ on our side…
Round and round we go and when/or where we stop GOD (Good Old Dad) only knows… The END could come before “I” finish this comment and/or a Zillion godly human years from NOW…
WHO’S LAUGHING?
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS
