I haven’t posted on New York congressman Anthony Weiner scandal via my blog or Twitter etc despite how pun-worthy the congressman’s name is with the details of the scandal involved. Though I have been following the story since it first came out wondering when the congressman would finally move along from “Go away there is nothing to see here” mode to some form of acknowledgment and apology.
To my sorrow it was only today that I thought to pray for him, his family and the people involved. When you get hyper-political it is easy to see people as chess pieces and when a pro-abortion politician falls you think of it in terms of political points. Just like how much the left loves it when a Televangelist is caught in some sexual escapade, we on the right can have the same feelings when some liberal politician falls especially such a rabid critic of conservatives such as Rep. Weiner.
That politicians are just as susceptible to original sin should be a surprise to no one and if anything are placed in an arena of increased temptations. Though Rep. Weiner has confirmed my prejudice against liberals politicians in that they hardly ever resign after a scandal and rarely received great pressure from their political allies to do so. They talk about accepting “full responsibility” while not accepting any consequences for their actions.
Regardless I will try to remember to pray for him and to pray that he also repents of his culture of death views. The connection between supporting abortion and seeing women only as sexual objects to be used is not a casual connection.

An excellent point. If we have respect for all human life and the integrity of every human being, we must as a result of this belief hold in prayer all those who suffer, whether in Purgatory or the livin Hell they experience (and even create for themselves) with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Still, we must insist to the living as did He: “Go and sin no more.”
Jeff…this is an excellent post! We definitely should remember to pray for him. This isn’t really about cons/lib or rep/dem…although your points are well taken. It’s about the fact that this man has bought into satan’s lies and he is in so deep it will be very hard for him (without the help of prayer) to climb out. With that being said…I love how you point out that these guys state that they are willing to “take responsibility” yet do not suffer the consequences of their actions.
When will they learn to just keep their mouths shut? Remember the “I did not have sex with that woman” and “it depends on what your definition of the word ‘is’ is”? Besides the obvious sin they have committed….they keep flapping their jaws and make it worse. The worse part of all of this…..Weiner will not be the last politician to go down this road. Sigh.
Clearly testosterone kills brain cells.
Hint to elected officials: get a dumb phone w/o camera and an old-fashioned numeric keypad, maybe that will slow down your texting.
And put a trusted aide in charge of your Twitter & FB accounts don’t touch them yourself.
Congrats for “The connection between supporting abortion and seeing women only as sexual objects to be used is not a casual connection”.
As a Catholic, I wonder what more input can we make with Rome, to punish Notre Dame & Georgetown (still dedicates a BUILDING to pro-abortion Fr. Drinan).
Schadenfreude is NEVER becoming.
I have long disdained the obviously disordered, warped thinking of Congressman Weiner, which I always assumed meant something.
I have realized over the past couple of weeks’ virtual orgy of gloating of certain media, however, that I have been taking too much pleasure from his fall — or rather the full public revelation of this aspect of the man’s character. I have been praying for Weiner and his family, even though, honestly, it hasn’t been easy.
