Yes it is Bishop Noonan who will be installed in the Diocese of Orlando Thursday. Picture taken during a roast given him by employees of the Pastoral Center in Miami.
So which is sillier? The Mickey Miter or the one worn by Archbishop Dolan after he was installed as Bishop in Milwaukee (he put it on briefly during a homily)?
Yes bishops are also allowed to have fun.

I vote for the Mouse ears being siller than the Cheese. I wish now I had taken a photograph of my late Archbishop, Metropolitan Basil of Pittsburgh (memory eternal), playing with a Slinky. He was a warm and personable hierarch, and I miss him.
We ought to get Archbishop Vigneron a tire.
He could have left off the chin strap
Are you sure this would be called “fun”??? Isn’t there some rule they’re breaking by not adhering to some vestment code of conduct? Is having fun mentioned in the GIRM??
Awwww, come on, Curt. I’m pretty traditional. But I see little harm to come from hamming it up a bit for the sheep. Mebbe the mouse ears are over the top (pun intended) but the head cheese was classic ‘Sconsin pride.
Which was pretty much my point. The Pope too has tried on all types of native hats also.
HH John Paul II was not only a champion Roamin’ Catholic, but probably set records in donning headgear.
When he visited Mexico, the press had a field day with his lightheartedness. As a newspaper editor, I was able to put together a full page of pictures of the Pope of many hats that the wire services sent from South of the Border.
I’m from the Milwaukee environs, and one of the things that made it OK for Bishop Dolan to don the Cheesehead was that it didn’t damage his dignity or his gravitas one bit. And that’s coming from a Protestant.
This is simple: Mouse eats cheese. Paper covers rock. Scissors cut paper. Rock smashes scissors.
The Cheese, definitely, man does not live by bread alone.
I wanna see a Bishop who’s a Vikings fan!
Or mebbe one with a Rook’s Tower?
