When I posted on Sr. Quinn acting as an abortion escort the other day some had commented concerning excommunication. Canonist Ed Peters goes over three Canons concerning this case and for a mandatory dismissal from religious state.
As Ed Peters and other have noted Sr. Quinn probably will not actually face any consequences. Her Prioress made excuses for her. Though maybe if there is enough of an outcry something could happen.

Does the local Bishop have and jursidiction in this matter in his diocese?
The fact that nothing much will happen to this woman shows how far out of the mainstream you and your ilk are from the majority of Catholic thought in Western society.
The hypocritical clergy that lead you are a constant reminder to all of the falsity of your cause. This old nun is simply being honest about her beliefs. When Papa Joe and Brother Georg start attending Gay pride events in red leather jock straps we will know that your side has reached the same level of honesty.
this woman is no christian nor is anyone who covers for her. thats the truth.

Truth is not determined by majority polling. We already know that there is going to be massive apostasy and attacks on Truth, Beauty, and Goodness by lots of people, especially people that profess to be Catholic. What of it? Truth doesn’t change.

Not at all. Few people are able to live up to the demands of their beliefs. Not atheists, not Catholics, not anyone. A counterfeit twenty-dollar bill does not disprove the existence of real money.

Dead wrong. She is no more being honest than one who espouses the racial theories of David Duke and thinks they can still be members in good standing with the NAACP. Even YOU once said, “It is puzzling to me why so many choose to remain, after clearly departing from the teachings of the Church.” Cognitive dissonance perhaps explains your childish descent into sand-kicking here:
“When Papa Joe and Brother Georg start attending Gay pride events in red leather jock straps we will know that your side has reached the same level of honesty.”
In short, your whole response can be summed up as, “You are stupid for believing what you believe.” Gee, what else is new?
I’m no Canon Lawyer, but doesn’t enforcement of Canon Law lie strictly under some bishop’s jurisdiction? Whether this is the local bishop of the pope remains another question.
But given that no bishop has acted on this information, doesn’t that settle the matter until a bishop chooses to act or until judgment day?
Do the laity even have any permission to provide unsolicited instruction to the magisterium? I thought we were limited to bringing information to the bishop for his consideration. More than happy to hear information to the contrary from a Canonist.
Every time Reddog does his schtick, all I can think is “Isn’t that just so cute, he’s making the gay clergy jibe again.” I am sure he just pats himself on the back for originality. Hoodlum lives!
If people like Sr. Quinn can remain in good standing in religious orders, something is wrong with the Catholic Church’s executive and judicial structures. There needs to be a policy requiring that one actually believes in the teachings of our institution in order to be a member thereof; it is only common sense.
And such a policy would by no means be oppressive; people who disagree with our institution are free to join and form institutions which align more perfectly with their beliefs and objectives.
It is, after all, a free country.
Subverting organizations from within is just a childish kind of tripe. No one joins the Ku Klux Klan to work against that group’s objective by helping black folks under the cover of night. Instead, they form other organizations to help black folks.
If Sr. Quinn honestly thinks the Church is evil, she needs to not be associated with it in any form or fashion. Light and darkness cannot share in brotherhood, or sisterhood, for that matter.
Reddog: Will you be old enough to vote for Obama in 2013?

Who cares?
At the end of all things, Christ will not give two hoots about what the “majority” thought. You included.
He will, however, care how well we followed His teachings and were faithful to the foundation of the church He established. Assisting women in dismembering their babies isn’t in the cards.
Hello,
To think only!
