Here is an excellent article by the Catholic News Agency contrasting Catholics who support President Obama and the comparison between how they treated the murder of Dr. George Tiller and the murder of Catholic pro-lifer Jim Pouillon. The Catholic periodicals that had a bit to say about the murder of George Tiller strangely had zero room for even mention of the murder of a pro-life Catholic. Rather sad, but unfortunately not surprising.
Even President Obama managed to release a short statement on Sunday condemning the murder of Jim Pouillon. Unlike pro-life groups after the murder of Mr. Tiller, pro-abortion groups did not release any statement condemning the murder.

Where is the story? There’s no link.
I don’t mean this in a disrespectful way with regard to James Poullion and family, who deserve our prayers and gratitude, but in many a sense the murder was not shocking to the pro-lifer population. After all, what happened to James was what was “promised” to him every day of his service, and fulfilled the threats we hear all the time, threats and messages that the PC folk, including many police officers and public officials, trivialize.
The pro-life message that we need to convey (besides the need to pray for James and his family) is that NOW, MORE THAN EVER we must stand together, united prayerfully in TRUTH to defend Life and bear witness against the culture of death. That James often stood alone, abandoned by his pro-life brothers and sisters, just as the most courageous champions of life have been abandoned and even despised for decades, is a tragedy that should speak to our hearts and result in ACTIVE pro-life witness.
40 Days For Life begins around the nation on Sept 23 this fall. NOW MORE THAN EVER we need to get involved. See 40daysforlife.com to find a location near you.
I think it’s no accident that our greatest rewards (in terms of women turning around at the clinic and choosing to give birth to their children) come when, for instance, Catholics For Life, 40 Days For Life, Bound For Life, and our veteran sidewalk counselors (Operation Rescue, etc) combine their efforts (not their methods, but their efforts) at abortion sites. I have also noticed that the number of changed minds and saved babies increases dramatically on Feast Days of the Blessed Mother. 🙂 (3 in an hour this last Feast of the Holy Name of Mary. Thank you, Mary, Mother of God and our Mother!)
