Little Rock – Authorities have identified the soldier killed in Monday’s double-shooting outside a U.S Army recruitment office in west Little Rock.
According to Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper, 23-year-old William Long of Conway died shortly after being transported to a Little Rock hospital.
Police say the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office were hit when a suspect drove up in a black SUV and began shooting.
At a briefing Monday afternoon, Little Rock police chief Stuart Thomas identified the suspect as Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, of Little Rock. Thomas says Muhammad also goes by the name Carlos Bledsoe.
Hastings identified the second wounded soldier as Quinton Ezeagwula, age unknown. He remains at a local hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
So far the President has said “” and the Attorney General has sent 0 Marshals to protect recruiting stations and issued a statement that said “”. The Huffington Post managed to have an article condemning right-wing political violence, but somehow this story escaped their attention. Amazing they were able to have the prudence to realize that in this case the man was probably acting alone and this was a local matter. Somehow the same circumstance in regards to the murder of the Dr. Tiller garnered another response.
As a former Navy recruiter this story hits home a bit. Though I only got my tires slashed and treated like crap by some in Washington state who hated the military.

I wonder if the little terrorist — for that is what he is — can be brought up on Federal charges? For murdering a U.S. serviceman on active duty, at his duty station, in uniform. Perhaps even court-martialed? Or shot?
I agree that the news coverage for this shooting has been too limited by comparison. Our country and our news media ought to support our military when they are threatened or killed at least as much as they support a threatened or killed abortion provider. I’m not sure what the previous commenter meant by adding “or shot”, but I’m sure that all you were suggesting was that a murder prompted by what someone did to serve his country deserves more attention from the media than it received. And the preference does seem ideological.
Jester, you are damned right on this! These two faced evil supporting nut jobs only care about violence against them or their ideas. No care for the violence against these soldiers, who were doing something much more noble than Tiller could even dream about. Of course the worse being ignoring the violence that Tiller and other Abortionist act out on a daily basis.
Unbelievable.
KATV-TV of Little Rock is saying that the shooter was a Muslim convert.
Nothing more need be said.
Dear Leader is too busy livin’ the life and looting private enterprise to concern himself with the men and women in uniform who sacrifice to keep my fat self safe.
This is very terrifying. We really don’t know when our time will come. We’ll just hope that justice would be given to the victims. Get well soon to Queuton Ezeaghula and condolences to William Long.
US soldier shot by a Muslim. This is a historic first yet the coverage is minimal. It’s deliberate.
Mack,
Last week, while on one of his lunch trips, one of the patrons told the Dear Leader (DL) that he worked for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (they interpret and analyze all overhead imagery and are one of the major intelligence agencies under DoD like NSA and DIA). The DL had to admit that he did not know about the existence or mission of the agency!
Tiller shot late Sunday Morning. Early Sunday afternoon, there was a statement on the White House website about it.
Soldiers shot yesterday. As of 4:30pm, EST, on the White House Website – crickets.
It speaks for itself.
Mr. Flapatrap, it might be better that way! May Dear Leader play with his Star Wars action figures for the next 3 1/2 years and stop running the country!
This story is getting some news coverage now, and it might get bigger. CNN is reporting on TV tonight that the killer was arrested during a trip to Yemen for carrying a Somali website. On the web, CNN has a story but I found it on the “crime” page:
“The suspect had been under investigation after visiting Yemen, a federal law enforcement official said. The official declined to provide further information.”
On TV, minutes ago, AC360 said he was on a mission to kill as many military personnel as he could, and that there are questions about his trip to Yemen and whether he acted alone.
An FBI comment is now posted, which says that Federal charges may be filed. It doesn’t say much except that they are still investigating:

As for Obama’s lack of comment, perhaps it is just bad timing since his trip to the Middle East begins today. But the internet news is still giving more attention to Tiller’s killer.
Oops! Should have proofread better. Arrested for carrying a Somali PASSPORT. Sorry.
Let’s not read too much into the apparent silence on the shooting of a soldier.
How about we start letting the recruiting officers carry a gun? I am not sure how they would like being “protected” or how it would look to their image, one who protects and fights. I see your point but I think they should let them start packing a pistol and handle it themselves really. I am very sorry that this happened. It is tragic.
his really hit home for me on Monday–my son was on his first liberty home since joining the Navy in November the week before Mother’s Day.
He worked at our local Navy Recruiter’s office for five days–a common practice to extend liberty at home without using up liberty days.
My thoughts and prayers for the repose of the soul of the murdered soldier, for those injured and recovering, their friends and families, and especially for our Blessed Mother to rain down graces upon the perpetrator.
Prayers also for all the soldiers and sailors and their families whose child, brother, son or husband it could have been.
