Here is what is suppose to be a leaked copy of the contents of the “honorary” degree to be given my Notre Dame.
“At the 164th Commencement The May Exercises
The University of Notre Dame Confers the degree of
Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, on the 44th president of the United States, whose historic election opened a new era of hope in a country long divided by its history of slavery and racism. A community organizer who honed his advocacy for the poor, the marginalized and the worker in the streets of Chicago, he now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good. Through his willingness to engage with those who disagree with him and encourage people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate, he is inspiring this nation to heal its divisions of religion, culture, race and politics in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.
I guess Fr. Jenkins wants to get the job of Press Secretary for the President. What a load of bunkem, Great job on helping the marginalized. Those being aborted will surely see this Fr. Jenkins’ way Got to love how the President allows those “bitter Americans” to bring their faith to the public debate. Funny I can’t see one example where he has done this. I was sure he had done the opposite by putting plenty of people in his administration that were often extremely anti-Cathoilc. He managed to only find people of “faith” who supported abortion and no appointments of anybody opposed. What in the world has he healed? Please name one divide that is not more divided? As Cardinal George pointed out after meeting him is that President Obama pretends to be on you side with his rhetoric while actually not agreeing at all. He will say things like “I understand your position” or “abortion is a moral question” while at the same time in his actions being quite dismissive.
As for his time as Community Organizer he left that community with no noticeable improvements. This is of course why he never gave any metric for what his success as a Community Organizer was. Later on he was able to steer grants to developers for a 100,000 dollar gazebo that never got built and money wasted on a park that never got developed.
So as far as I can tell Fr. Jenkins just made up crap to pad the President’s resume for him. What he says has no connection with the reality of Obama’s actions.
The hubris of Fr. Jenkins continues and he continues to seem to have zero empathy for those hundreds of thousands (and the 65 bishops who made public statements) who disagree with him.

I cannot BELIEVE yet I MUST at what I just VIEWED TODAY! IT MADE ME SICK AND CRY at the same time.
Satan was in full glory on stage today with all the robed and educated PILOTS!
This is just the START of the END! I mean the END for many many so called CATHOLICS, THE FIFTH COLUMNS!
Father Jenkins made it quite clear what many have thought..he is HOMOSEXUAL and as in the child abuse scandal HE is INFILTERING the CHURCH with HIS TYPE and USING OUR LADY FOR HIS BENEFIT!
GOD will NOT TOLERATE HIS MOTHER BEING USED and
the day is nigh for those who sleep with satan on this earth!
I there with ya Jeff. From the inflated rhetoric in that “press release” makes one wonder if there isn’t going to be a narcisism competition on the dais at ND come Saturday. Sick, just sick.
Ya’ know if Mr. O was invited to have a conversation with the ND administration, or be part of a social tea or something like that, it would be one thing. But to have him speak in the position that is usually reserved for those who represent best the values of the school, boy, this invitation to speak at the commencement is so wrong on so many levels. At least UA didnt confer any honorary degress on him ( for lack of real evidence of real social work being done. Mr. O became president, not by merit , but by happenstance.
This must be a fake. I can not believe a word of it. I found it easier to believe the invitation and honorary degree than this palaver. The most glaring lie is that President Obama encourages “people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate”. Surely no one at ND could say that with a straight face?!
I hope very few graduates show up. And that that “minority” of Catholics who the White House say oppose the honor will take the time this weekend to pray for the future of the Church in America.
The only reason I can see for the invitation in the first place is simply for the prestige of having the president come to the commencement. Being a Catholic university, you’d think they’d only see this as a shame rather than prestigious. I actually just posted something on this as well since it has frustrated me to no end.
I left this rant in the combox of American Papist earlier:
If it’s not real it certainly is brilliant. All the talk about dialogue is classic liberal deceit.
President Jenkins (I refuse to call him Father) is all about dialogue, but of course with this one deceitful caveat: the invitation to dialogue comes only after President Jenkins has ensured that the controversial issue will be a reality (recall the Vagina Monologues and the upcoming Obama-rama/Commencement). What the hell good does dialogue do the opposition then? It’s merely an invitation for us to waste our breath; though it does make him look open minded to an increasingly despicable secular press.
I suppose that if President Obama were to push the nuke button tomorrow against the Chinese and then call Hu Jintao to talk about it, Jenkins would slobber all over himself praising Obama for being so magnanimous
You know, there is a lot that gets batted about, true and false, about Freemasonry and the Church’s relationship thereto. But, having read tthe original encyclicals from the 18th century that condemned Freemasonry, you know what the #1 offense was? Yes, Freemasonry was condemned for its secrecy. It was condemned for its possible ties to paganism. And it was also condemned for advocating compulsory almsgiving, intimidating members to give alms rather than encouraging them to do so for love of Christ.
But the #1 reason the Church condemned Freemasonry was for acting as if religious differences didn’t matter, and saying that people of different faiths could work together to achieve common goals of the betterment of humanity.
Sound familiar?
Jeff:
Deserves “extraordinary action” the wise comment of George Weigel? If we put the scandal in the perspective of satanic pride, indisputably holding the priest Jenkins under his goat foot, the question translates right now to the USCCB hierarchy: Why don’t they officialy ask Rome to order D’Arcy to suspend the prideful “President” of ND? Are they too prideful-blinded to: seeing the horrendous blemish that… will be bloody blotted forever not on Jenkins, or D’Arcy (will be forgotten in one day), but on Benedict XVI?
Or is Abp. Burke unable to talk the talk AND walk the walk in Rome, supposedly full of wise politicians TO ACT STOPPING THIS OBVIOUS DIVISIVE scheme of the Obaminator to debase the Vatican… among the faithful Rosary-prayerful, consecrated to the Divine Hearts of Jesus & Mary, in this May of Our Queen of Peace?
Just analyze the depth of their success in this bleeding: “The Obama administration is full of very smart political operators… they’ve shrewdly judged that the soft underbelly of Catholic resistance to the Obama administration’s radical agenda on the life issues is composed of Catholic intellectuals, their prestige institutions (like Notre Dame and Georgetown), and their opinion journals—the very people and opinion centers who claimed last year that Obama was the true pro-life candidate. It’s a clever move on the political chessboard, and barring extraordinary actions from the bishops, it will likely meet with considerable success.”
So the [d]Ear Leader “encourage[s] people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate.” What a joke! If this were true, then Georgetown would not have been asked by the Whitehouse to cover up the “IHS” in the hall where President Obama recently plugged his economic plan and had the gall to quote the same “IHS” in his speech.
I hope I’m wrong, but looks to me that Obama is shrewdly playing the divisions in the Catholic laity against each other. For what end? I don’t know, yet.
How long, Lord? How long?!
I do not feel healed.
Pray. Pray for a miracle.
The arguement I’ve seen circulating lately is that this award is not contrary to the Bishop’s statement in 2004 because the president is Christian, not Roman Catholic.
So we can honor the President at Notre Dame, we just couldn’t honor Joe Biden?
I am listening to his speech right now. I am completely floored at the adulation this monster has received by supposed catholics. It angers and disappoints me beyond belief. There is no sense of martyrdom among the student body. He is literally mocking our beliefs under the banner of “diversity”.
Call it Sotre Dame ’cause that is not my mother there. She is the mother of something else.
