Today being the feast day of the great saint and Doctor of the Church St. Catherine of Siena I remembered something I once pondered while driving. When behind a family van that had those sticker indicating parents. kids. and dogs and cats I wondered what would have happened if St. Catherine’s family lived in modern times? St. Catherine herself was the last of 25 children to the same mother. Here is how I envision their family transportation.

I love it!
Except her parents weren’t exactly super Catholics, considering how they tortured her to stay out of religious life.
Her eldest sister was already married and having chidlren over her own when Catherine was a young girl, so the bus may not have been entirely necessary.
I love it!
JC, if they ever broke 15 at home at once, they were into some kind of bus territory.

Or maybe a fleet of Toytoa Sienna minivans…
Ha, Ha, Ha! Great graphic!
Peter,
Good point! We recently upgraded to a 15 passenger *size*. It’s actually 8 passengers + wheelchair. But with four kids, my wheelchair, stroller, and any cargo, we’ve already pretty much filled it.
My daughter asked me soemthing about what if we need a bigger vehicle, and I said, “Any bigger than this, and we’ll be driving a bus.”
Love it!
That is a great photo. Where can I get one of those…my 12 passenger is feeling a bit cramped.
IS IT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE FAMILY NAME OF SANTA CATERINA IS ‘BENIN’ ????
I knew a guy who was second to youngest of 21 to the same parents. Very cool family!
I’ve a friend with 12 and several others with 6+.
Big families are a marvelous blessing!
Great photo!
You should start a movement for the canonization of Saint Catherine’s parents. Any couple who manages to birth and raise such a family has learned true humility and access to God’s Presence many times over.
Just because one has a lot of children doesn’t mean one is a good parent, certainly not necessarily a saint. And in past times there wasn’t much of a choice; if you got married young and were fertile, you had a lot of children.
I had nine, and I am certainly no saint!
