On Thursday Hillary Clinton visited the Virgin of Guadeloupe’s Basilica in Mexico City Mexican and is seen here with Monsignor Diego Monroy.
On Friday she is given an award by Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards for her work with women’s health issues protecting abortion. The award is called the Maggie named after racist-eugenicist Margaret Sanger.
Quite a transition from visiting the miraculous painting that has become so iconic for the pro-life movement where so often a painting bearing this image is carried during pro-life marches and then to receive an award that is the total antithesis of the pro-life movement.
It also looks like she was not given any information about Our lady of Guadeloupe before visiting the Basilica.
After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!” Reference

actually the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is not a painting: it might more accurately be described as a miraculous image. not only because of the miracles worked through it, but also miraculous in the sense that science has been unable to explain how the image was produced (it’s not painted) and other physical characteristics.
The saddest (or funniest, depending on your mood) part of all this was Hillary’s insistence that she had never felt such a sense of peace come over her as when she set foot in that Cathedral. I guess she must have felt “affirmed” in her pro-death stance, because she seems considerably more at peace setting foot in the liberal cathedral that is Planned Parenthood the very next day.
It is just me, or does it seem in that first image like the Monsignor is trying to pull Hillary towards the image of the Virgin while she laughs nervously?
I also like the “virgin” comment afterwards. Then going to Planned Parenthood – talk about ironic!
She’s wearing scarlet before the Virgin of Guadalupe and black at Planned Parenthoodlums; both styles of dress speak volumes.
Why do I feel the urge to say a Franciscan Crown to console Our Lady? I wish that the Msgr. had not taken Mrs. Clinton before the image. Her presence there seems like a profanation.
I think Mrs. Clinton’s hardness of heart (it isn’t cluelessness, although it would be easy to think that) is so sad.
I think it’s reasonable to hope that her encounter with the miraculous image of Our Lady may be the beginning of her conversion. The question, “Who painted it?”, may have been asked from politeness, or it may have been asked because she was genuinely moved by it. Msgr. Monroy’s reply might be hard for her to forget…hopefully she will ask herself what could cause a person to believe with such conviction that the image was made by God and be inspired to find out more about the history of Our Lady of Guadeloupe. There are so many who have been led home to the Church by Our Lady…with God, all things are possible.
Thanks for a very interesting web sight. Catholics need a websight that will be Jesus centered, Catholic in all things sacred and non sacred. Devoted to Our Blessed Lady, and definately Life-oriented politically speaking. I’m really getting a belly full of this “new world order” nonsense coming out of China, and into our Congress ears! Can it be that our monetary system will be eliminated so that “change” will come to pass? You know”change”, our beloved Obomination always speaks about. Once we get to that point with our money, can it be much further down the line where we will be I.D.”d with a chip implanted somewhere on our torso’s? Does the “Mark of the beast” ring a bell?? We need Jesus so badly! The biggest problems we now face isn’t the economy, It’s a nation following the ways of Europe. Simply said “GODLESSNESS”! All things come from Him, our very life is in His Hands, and we need Him way more than a healthy economy. Let’s all get back to God, where we belong! Praise Him, Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

The Maggie sort of looks like……a blob.
It seems to me that God is at work here! We can only hope that she opens her eyes.
Wendee, You might be right.
Remember this miraculous image
contributed to the conversion
of some 10 million natives of
what is now Mexico – from
a culture of human sacrifice
that was arguably one of
the most blood thirsty in history.
There is hope. And the Good Lord
would certainly be glorified that
the instrument would be His Mother,
one of our race!
I think it’s reasonable to hope that her encounter with the miraculous image of Our Lady may be the beginning of her conversion.
Wonderful comment, Justin, and, as you say, a perfectly reasonable hope. Thank you!
I doubt that Mrs. Clinton’s question about the image was anything
other than polite small talk. After all, she’s visited the basilica at
least once before, in 1979.
But yes, all things are possible with God, even softening that
heart.
I dont think that many people in the USA are familiar with the miracle that led to the image. It doesnt surprise me that the Mrs Clinton doesn’t really know much about it. She had never shown much interest in catholics or the Vatican when she and Bill were in the White House. I remember stories of unanswered calls/snubs to the Vatican when trying to contact the White House back then. Perhaps it hoping too much that there was a spark of sincerity with her positive comments.
I’m no fan of Hillary Clinton, but perhaps a little bit of Christian charity is in order here:
Mrs. Clinton is not Catholic — why should she be expected to know about the image of the Virgin of Guadeloupe?
Amen, Justin! We’re praying at my house! The miraculous image of our Lady is brought to abortion clinics for a reason! And Hilary’s sins (as all of ours) and blindness are not more powerful than the Love of God.
Let’s pray sincerely for her conversion! Think how much rejoicing there will be in Heaven and on earth when Hilary can SEE! Besides, our prayers for Mary’s intercession in this matter will delight our Blessed Mother!
Pleh! Mrs Clinton is the Secretary of State. She has an army of people including the whole staff at the US Embassy in Mexico, DF who are SUPPOSED to brief her so she doesn’t make dumb, irritating, injurious or insulting comments. It seems to me that the people around her are just as clueless as she is and don’t bother to do their jobs properly. It is SAD to us as Catholics that she asked about the “painting” of one of the most important treasures in Mexico. For our country, though, it might be tragic that this and other missteps and mistakes are occurring. Eventually something really bad will happen. I will keep praying for her conversion. As long as there is breath, there is hope. AnneG in NC
It’s just a continuation of the Obamateur Hour, only this time with eugenics and ignorance and the mass slaughter of infants.
Our Blessed Mother CAN make Mrs. Clinton an offer she cannot refuse; as Christ picked up the slack for us by carrying the Cross up to Calvary, so too can we pick up the slack for others. Do you want to see a change of heart here?! Then walk your talk if you call yourself a Christian. Pick up your Rosary and pray for the intention of the conversion of her heart. Do this weekly, and fast and make other small sacrifices daily… not whipping yourself, but perhaps not putting sugar in your coffee, or by smiling at that annoying person. These small sacrifices will NOT go unnoticed. Mary, who is “FULL of Grace” will pour EXTRA grace into the heart of Mrs. Clinton… multiply by it by the efforts of thousands of us and even her hardened heart can be cracked. “I will break their hearts of stone; give them hearts for love alone…” Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? Or will I scoff and point the finger? Then, who is the guilty one?
I pray that the Virgin of Guadeloupe fills the mind of Mrs Clinton, and becomes a tool of her conversion. So the Lord is able to move her to remorse and repentance. May God fill her heart with a true love for life and use her considerable skills and talents against the culture of death that she now champions and promotes.
Lord hear our prayer.
