Make you nominations for the 2009 Cannonball Awards. This is the 2nd year of the Crescat awards and as always we get hilarious awards sections and an effort to honor the lesser known bloggers such as the category “BEST BLOG BY A RELIGIOUS WHOSE NOT FR.Z”

Much as I loathe being considered “nitpicky” or “the grammar police” –it is “who’s not Fr. Z” not “whose not Fr. Z”. “Who’s” is the contraction for ‘who is’. “Whose” is a possessive “Whose book is that on the floor?”
When in doubt, see which ‘fits’ the sentence. If you can replace ‘whose’ with “who is”, then you need to use “who’s”. In the above case, you can, and you should, and I wish you had. Better luck next time!
