Religious priests and diocesan priests are entirely different animals. I once did work at a retreat house, and I could always tell if the priest who stayed over was religious or diocesan. The religious priests would use only one washcloth and tiny, broken off piece of soap, and fold his bedclothes up at the foot of the bed. Diocesan priests would usually be like your more typical guy who leaves his dirty socks on the floor.
They were equally lovely to take care of, though!
Elizabeth, apparently, you and I know different religious priests!
🙂
Actually, “picking up after ourselves” comes from the long habit of staying as guests in other priories. If you want to stay as a guest a second time, you leave the guest room cleaner than you found it.
