Harry Forbes, the head movie and television reviewer for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) who previously had to change the rating on his review of Brokeback Mountain is at it again. This time he has given a quite favorable review to Milk based on Harvey Milk the first openly homosexual man elected to public office. Harvey Milk has become part of the martyrology of homosexual activists. The film which partly focuses on Milk’s assassin being a Catholic contains male nudity and male kissing and manages to get a L — limited adult audience rating.
LifesiteNews covers the story and has a statement from Fr. Euteneuer.

I had mistakenly thought that Forbes had been asked to resign over the “Brokeback Mountain” review…Maybe it was just because there were so many people expressing a desire that he “resign”.
This fella just don’t own a weedeater, does he?
I hereby nominate Steven Greydanus to take his place. Does someone wish to second the nomination?
This is also the reviewer who gave Nacho Libre an “o” for “offensive.”
Lat year it was “the Golden Compass”. At least the rating ” L — limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling” makes sence ( never existed before). I have always thougt he is trying to be a “respeced movie critic”. Not sure if he is really trying to be that or just to get press with his reviews.
Someone should sit this man down and explain to him the consequences of his reviews. Manipulation of public sympathies can harm society and cause the death of the unborn. Check out the review on “Kinsey”, for example. It took a couple of years for parents who cared enough to do so to rid their young adults of the “compassionate” response to Kinsey, which was supported wholeheartedly by their peers. How many promiscuous relationships were championed as a result of that film and how many unborn babies died subsequently?
It sure doesn’t help Catholic families when their members can justify their responses by pointing to reviews by the USCCB. Some might applaud the “teaching moments” afforded by such films, but they are ignoring the teary battles and the real outcomes of the films that play on the emotions of young people, in particular.
“Someone should sit this man down and explain to him the consequences of his reviews” — the man is very much aware of how these reviews affect his readers. He is a scandal since he is writting for the USCCB. Just as Pelosi and Biden are scadalous in what they say is a the Catholic stand on when life begins. It is a shame the Bishops just dont let him go. Its time they wake up.
Ooh, check this out–Ascension Press is selling a book that should help with the Kinsey muck:
The Kinsey Corruption
by Susan Brinkman
Only 5.95. Cheaper than a movie ticket.

How’s that for a quick answer to my own question. I was on that site looking for “The Theology of the Body”. (Yes, they do have it, but the title of this one is:
Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body
by Pope John Paul II) This is the first time I’ve found the source material that has given birth to about 30 guides and explanations. I can’t stand to read a book about a book I haven’t yet read.
I second nominating Steven Greydanus to take Forbes place. http://www.decentfilms.com
I nominate Steven Greydanus of Decentfilms.com as well. He is eminently suitable for the job!!
Mr. Forbes would be much more suited to doing reviews for Commonweal.
