as St. Paul says: “Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences. “(1 Tim 4: 1-2)
Shame on them! As a recently inducted Knight of Columbus, I am sickened by this group’s betrayal of the pro-life principles of the Order.
Lord have mercy.
This makes me profoundly sad. The KOC has not endorsed any candidate, merely pointed out that Obama has made the killing of unborn children a primary plank in his platform.
It is one thing for a man to support a candiate like Obama, but to use the Order’s good name to support this man is unconscionable. I remind my brother Knights that at each meeting we say “…Liberty and Justice for all, for the born and the unborn.”
I emailed Supreme when I saw this site yesterday, the VP of Communications responded very quickly saying: “Rest assured that a full investigation is under way, and that action will be taken.”
What a shame that they are doing this under the name Knights of Columbus. The K of C are very pro-life! I hope someone reported them to their bishop and maybe someone should make Carl Anderson aware of this outrage.
I made use of the email link on that site to chastise them for misusing the Knights of Columbus to completely reject what true Knights stand for (I’m 4th degree). They should have their memberships permanently revoked!
As a current 2nd Degree Knight, I am outraged at the nerve of these few who are trying to tie the good name of the Knights of Columbus to abortion and Obama! I, for one, strongly oppose the election of Obama as President of the United States.
That website is just hinky. I’d say it looks like a third grader put it together, but third graders use Flash, Java, and dynamic content.
I feel sorry for them, to tell the truth. They support the most pro-abortion Senator in the country’s history, and they think this is a good thing. Unbelievable.
Y’know what’s funny? Back in my protestant days, I knew a certain number of folks who claimed the KOC to be racists.
Now seeing as black folks have a disproportionate share of the total number of abortions, I guess all we can conclude is that there is a certain racist contingent within the KOC. They’re called “Knights for Obama.”
The amazing thing is that although they know and admit that they are at odds with their Supreme Knight, they seem to be (genuinely?) unaware that they are at odds with their Pope.
I can’t shake the feeling that someone had decided to pinch his nose in the voting booth or bought into the hype, and put up that web site in a desperate attempt to drown out the realization that he’s not getting the transcendent feeling he hoped for. If other people buy it, then he can’t have made the wrong decision, right? Right?
I am ashamed of these few so called “Knights” that have started there own campaign of pro abortion thinking in order to justify their presidential candidate – what sell-outs. They will soon be reminded that it is a privilege to be a Knight – not a “right”. I am confident they will soon be on the outside looking in. In their next blog they will have to write: “back when I used to be a Knight…” Suspension Suspension Suspension
I am not a Knight (obviously), but I did write to them..I was so heartbroken when I saw their site…this is what I sent…
I am a mom of two sons from two kinds of war. A Marine who has served in Iraq and an unborn child lost to abortion through the coercion of my parents when I was a teenager. As such, I found your “Knights for Obama” site more than a little disturbing.
The fact that anyone can equate the cost of a war to the destruction of 50 million unborn children mystifies me. Even if you consider the war unjust, how does that somehow in your minds, justify voting for someone whose pro abortion stance promotes infanticide and who even voted against the ban of partial birth abortion? There can never be a justification for leaving an unborn who survives abortion in a closet to die or for tearing the head off of a child in the womb.
You can justify and rationalize all you want, but the Catholic Church is very clear on abortion. I commend Carl Anderson for calling Biden to task on twisting the teaching of the Catholic Church to suite his own agenda. The church clearly says abortion is wrong and, in fact, is a serious sin. I tremble when I think of Biden receiving Our Lord while at the same time promoting abortion. Thank God He is Merciful and I pray that Biden heeds the messages he has gotten from many, including some bishops.
Abortions will increase dramatically under the new administration. Not only will they increase, but Catholic Institutions that uphold the teaching of the church will be forced to close their doors because Obama will overturn all restrictions and the pro abortion groups Obama has promised to appease, such as NARAL and Planned Parenthood, have already set out to overturn the conscious clause. That clause will be an instrument of many Catholic Institutions closing and will turn people who will not perform abortions away from dreams of working in the medical profession… How do you justify that?
Perhaps you should speak to the countless women and men who have been harmed by abortion. I have. I run a post abortion program where I get hundreds of women and men every year. What about their lives? What about their souls? What about the impact abortion has had on grandparents, siblings, friends etc?
I find it beyond insulting that you would use the cost of war to justify your casting aside the issue of abortion. What about the cost of 50 million lives? How much is that worth? How much cost is there to the countless women in mental health facilities because of abortion? Or how about the health cost of physical complications as a result of abortion. What about the siblings suffering guilt and survival issues and the millions of families impacted by 50 million abortions?
As a mom whose son served honorably, and who has stood at the funeral of the sons of friends who died, your site causes me great pain. I have met, over the years, countless brave men and women who have put their lives on the line for our country.
You have a right to free speech that is one of the rights exceptional men like my son and others have fought for. You also have free will, a God given gift, but to chastise Carl Anderson for speaking the truth of our faith when countless innocent unborn children will die as a result of the Obama administration is a disgrace.
The Knights of Columbus have always stood for the unborn. There is no issue so paramount than life, which is given to us by God. One of the letters on your site said Biden will make a great vice president… you also brag about his commitment to Catholic social teachings. I am sure the innocent babies who have died as a result of his votes and those who will die as a result of the new administration would disagree.

Fr. McGivney, pray for us.

They should NOT have a picture of the Pope at the top of the page. It makes it look like an endorsement.

I do hope that the revoking of memberships takes place soon after this investigation.
By the way, Jeff. I love the Halloween idea. I’ll be forwarded that one along. Hmmmm, perhaps I could set up a “share the wealth” paypal account!
I sent the following message to them via their email link:
Three unassailable truths to bear in mind:
1. Judgment Day is coming, and those who formally cooperate in evil will be called to repent.
2. Obama would like to sign the Freedom Of Choice Act as his first act, should he be elected president.
3. Voting for Obama makes #2 possible.
Good luck at Judgment Day, brothers. I’m praying that the Venerable Servant of God Fr. Michael McGivney can intercede on your behalf.
[By the way, loved the Greek Captcha! I was trying to transliterate the letters before I realized that I couldn’t enter them anywhere!]

You’ve got the title of the website wrong. It’s really “McGivney Out of Here: Men Who Hate Being Knights of Columbus”.
As a 3rd degree Knight I will give the organization 1 year to throw these “obama” supporters out. If they are not then I am leaving the organization.
The amazing thing is that although they know and admit that they are at odds with their Supreme Knight, they seem to be (genuinely?) unaware that they are at odds with their Pope.
I’m a 3rd degree Knight and sickened as well by this website. I’m angry as hell right now.

All that needs to be said has already been said.
*Shakes fist wildly at Obama site*
