Why must the bishops in good-standing remain anonymous? To avoid being recognized as not being in good standing, I would assume…
What irks me most is the way the media reports it: “Church vows punishment”. Um, that’s not QUITE how it works, guys…we’re not sending albino monks out to ferret them out and beat them into repenting. Their own actions excommunicated them. There’s a world of difference!
Isn’t that like a sign of insanity. If I declare myself a board member of the company I work for, I’ll probably get fired for it. If I then say that I will continue to be a loyal employee and board member of that company despite being fired, I’ll probably get sent for a psychological evaluation.
“The ceremony “is not in compliance with their man-made rules, but it’s certainly in compliance with the Roman Catholic ordination rituals because our bishops were ordained by all-male Roman Catholic bishops who are in good standing with the church,” as provided by the church’s ordination rituals, said Bridget Mary Meehan, the group’s spokeswoman.”
Oh yeah, that makes sense. I guess things like not ordaining people in secret and anonymously are just “man-made rules.” These secret ordination ceremonies ridiculous, how can anyone take them seriously?
This reminds me of a line from “Scrubs”:
“How many ways can I say this? No, nah, nada, nope, no way Jose, not a chance and, my personal favorite, ‘man falling off a cliff’ nooooooooooooooo! (long silence) – splat”
The main thing you start losing after you have lost the faith is your sanity. Proof positive with these poor deluded souls.
God please have mercy on them.

O wimmin priestesses of the church of me-my-myself-and-I, read Matthew 13, especially v.15. and vs.24-43. Those verses should be familiar enough (from yesterday, 16th Sunday Ord.).
Brian – what you said.
Lady priests? Confessions? “I can’t wait to tell
you what that man just told me!”OH!, the nerve!!!”
In case anyone is interested, I posted on the alleged “commissioning” of Mary Magadalene yesterday.

It would appear that anyone can call themselves “Catholic-this” or “Catholic-that” and get some media attention by pandering to the anti-Catholic press’ desire for anything they can spin against the church.
What’s next? Catholic-Adulteresses ordaining divorced and re-married women in defiance of the Church’s stance on the indissolubility of Marriage? Or perhaps Catholic-Thieves or Catholic-Murderers, or Catholic-Liars ordaining each other in defiance….blah blah blah.
The sad part is how gullible the media is in giving voice to these nutjobs who actually think they are Catholic-anything. But as I said earlier, the press loves to bash the church, so this nonsense plays to their weakness, like dope to a junkie.
Kasia, I’m afraid you’re slightly confused. The albino monks ferret people out and assassinate them. It’s the Sisters of Show No Mercy who beat people into repenting.
Seriously, if you’re ordained in a PROTESTANT church, you’re not “loyal members of the (Catholic) church”. That should be simple enough to understand even for secularists; e.g. if you sign up with the Cleveland Indians, you ain’t a Tiger no more!
Jeff’s “What?” pretty much sums it up. These folks aren’t Catholic in any practical sense; they’re Protestants, just in denial about it. Bridget Mary Meehan’s argument for the validity of the rite is precisely the argument made by Anglicans, for example. Claiming to have been ordained in the Roman Catholic Church if your orders aren’t recognized by the Roman Catholic Church; it simply makes no sense, either with respect to the church or with respect to priesthood itself.
When you’re that lost about the nature of the Church you claim to be called to serve, let alone the capacity in which you claim to be called—well, maybe it’s not surprising that these women staged this show.
Lord, have mercy.
Peace,
–Peter
‘”Catholics who attempt to confer a sacred order on a woman, and the women who attempt to receive a sacred order, are by their own actions separating themselves from the church,” the archdiocese said.’
Well, that cooks the goose of the faux priests and the bishops who have attempted to ordain women as priests. So what will they do? They will refuse to recognize the separation they have brought on themselves. When will it occur to them that by their refusal to recognize truth now they are making it much more difficult for themselves at the end of their lives? How will they recognize “The Way, the Truth, and the Life” later if they have chosen to invent their own version of Jesus rather than believe in the One Who IS?
