I hadn’t realized until now that Tony Snow had converted to Catholicism, but I’m not surprised. He spoke very lovingly of the pope and of Catholic tradition on the radio some years ago.
I’ll pray for both their souls, but I have a hard time with the Catholic adulation for Tim Russert. He spent his life working on behalf of pro-abortion Catholic politicians and a political party that rejected fundamental Catholic teachings. I’m unaware of anything that he ever did to advance the culture of life or protect the unborn. And yet even the National Catholic Register praised him as a great Catholic. I just don’t get it.
Well, they already covered one “Catholic guy in the media dies” story this year. Who would want to read another one so soon? It’s not like they’re supposed to report on events just because they happen…right?….right…?
I agree, I was wondering what faith Tony was since he was referred to so many times as a man of great faith. I am thrilled it turned out to be Catholic. Why couldn’t they say he was a faithful convert to the Catholic faith?? I guess it was because he was a conservative Catholic who believed in the sanctity of human life and stood for the many other social issues the Catholic faith teaches but not all Catholics believe in. May he have the peace he so richly deserves. Charlene
I also did not realize Tony Snow was a convert to the Faith until I just read it in the National Catholic Register (although I did realize he was a Catholic). He was a great man and I am sure his children miss him terribly. My father died when I was a teenager and you never forget what that feels like.
God bless them all.
