Rick Leornardi has created a new blog to cover the Year of St. Paul with Man of Three Cultures.
I have often joked in that past about how crappy the web sites of most Catholic churches are. Not even web 1.0, more like web I.0 where the bulletin in PDF format is months old and the rest of it is never updated. A reader sent me a link to his parish web site that is nicely done, but not in an overblown way with intrusive Flash intros. The church itself is also quite beautiful and my reader recommends the video talks by John Meehan, founder of Magdalen College.

I agree, although I think Catholics are starting to catch up with utilizing their creative skills. I’ve been impressed with some sites such as Catholics Come Home. (It does have Flash but at least it’s not obtrusive.)
Many parishes are slow in developing better content than a church bulletin. I know it will come in time but to be honest, I hope it’s not too “slick.” Some mega-church sites have the look and feel of a corporate website. Polished and bland.
I’m on the hunt for books dealing with Catholicism and Modern Arts. I know a few non-Catholics have written such books (Frank Schaeffer, Madeline L’Engle) but wonder if there are others with a specific Catholic perspective?
I like that website, too. Very nice!

I know for a fact it was set up by an old retired guy using a dial-up connection.
🙂
Yes, Fr. Marc has done some great work with that parish. He’s also the former Vocations Director for the Diocese … and my pastor’s brother. How he ever keeps it all going, I’ll never know. They even have a real on-the-road procession which is absolutely unheard of around these parts.
