VATICAN CITY, March 13 (Reuters) – Pope
Benedict is “profoundly moved and saddened” by the death of Paulos
Faraj Rahho, the Chaldean Catholic archbishop in Iraq who was kidnapped
last month, a Vatican spokesman said on Thursday.
“All of us had continued to pray and hope for his release, which the
Pope had repeatedly urged,” Father Federico Lombardi said in a
statement shortly after news of the death.

He’s a martyr now – very sad very cruel
I pray his blood will water the Iraqi ground to bring about new life and new converts to faith in Jesus Christ.
This marytrdom points-up the often-forgotten plight of the Christian minority in Iraq. My very limited understanding (based largely on a chat with a Chaldean Catholic family operating a restaurant in Arizona) is that they are the victims of both the Sunni and the Shiite Muslims, who are the governing majority. Perhaps we should offer a Rosary for our endangered brothers and sisters in Muslim countries.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; may Perpetual Light shine upon him. May his souls and the souls of all the faithfully departed rest in peace.
Amen
Deliver us from evil
May his soul rest in peace.
NBC news tonight had this story on the nightly national news. His death did put the persecution going on there in the international spotlight again. Pray it doesn’t take more deaths for peace to come.
Oremus:

Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto. sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper et in saecula saeculorum Amen!
