Yes like Nixon doing Disco is just like
Democrats quoting scripture.
“I believe in civil unions that allow a
same-sex couple to visit each
other in a hospital or transfer property to each other,” he said,
referring to unions that grant all the legal benefits of marriage,
minus the name. “I don’t think it should be called marriage, but I
think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized
by the state. If people find that controversial, then I would just
refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind,
for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans. That’s my
view. But we can have a respectful disagreement on that.”
Well maybe he is thinking of the Sermon on
the Brokeback Mount.
As
GetReligion notes several news outlets
try to figure out what part of the Sermon on the Mount he was
referencing and they came up with a different scripture.
Seems that they might have asked his campaign that question.
Barack takes the same strange
approach that several others have taken. That is support of
civil unions and not same-sex marriage. There is not much
support of same-marriage within the black community and surely he knows
this. But this position as a self-proclaimed Christian is
that he is denying that homosexuals can get married so he must
be endorsing homosexual fornication. Yeah there is a lot of
scriptural references in support of fornication. This surely can’t make
homosexual activists happy since they claim that homosexual couples are
exactly the same as a heterosexual couple and in effect Obama is
denying this. Or maybe they understand that this is just
political talk and accept that he is being disingenuous on this issue.
In fact just three days ago he said in a long letter to the
homosexual community.
“As your President, I will use the
bully
pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in
their family and adoption laws,” he wrote. “I personally believe that
civil unions represent the best way to secure that equal treatment. But
I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way
of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality
for gay and lesbian couples — whether that means a domestic
partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage.
I am shocked, shocked I tell
you. To one audience he says one thing about homosexual
marriage and says something different to another. Just ignore
this and repeat the mantra “change we can believe in.”
Even stranger though is Obama calling the
passage in Romans that addresses homosexuality as obscure.
Rather ironic for a Protestant to call anything in Romans
obscure considering Martin Luther’s pretty much building Protestantism
from his faulty interpretation of an “obscure” passage in Romans.
Obama also defended his backing of
abortion rights.
“[W]e should prevent it as much as possible by making sure that young
people are engaging in responsible behavior and that we are encouraging
the kinds of good decisions that prevent unwanted pregnancies and that
we are encouraging adoption as an alternative,” he said. “But I think
that at the bottom line is that in the end I think women, in
consultation with their pastors, and their doctors and their family,
are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat
in Washington.
“That’s my view. Again, I respect people who may disagree, but I
certainly don’t think it makes me less Christian.”
Yes support of the murder of the innocent
doesn’t make someone less Christian. So much for “Whatever
you do to the least of them, you do to me” or from the Sermon of the
Mount “Blessed are the merciful.” Yes mercy is ripping apart
infants in the womb with medical instruments. No support of murder of
the innocent doesn’t make him less of a Christian, it makes him a bad
Christian who supports an intrinsic evil.
He is also once again taking up the
“trusting women to make their own decision” tact as he has done before.
Though I consider it ironic his bringing up a bureaucrat in
Washington when it was Judges and not the American people who brought
us legalized abortion in the first place. Hey let us let all
women who are currently in prison for murder or for any other crime
since surely we can trust women to make these decisions.

Isn’t that what Medical Power of Attorney, living wills, wills etc. are for? With the new HIPPA (Hipaa? whatever)regulations, I can’t necessarily get medical information about my husband or make decisions for him if he is incapacitated. Obama is scary.

Yes, but common-sense things like that get passed over when there is social engineering (bullying) to be done.
I think the opening of this is a bit unfair. There are Scripture-quoting Democrats who are completely in union and accord with the teachings of Holy Mother Church and who are doing their best to reform their party. May God grant them success in their overwhelming struggle.
“Yeah there is a lot of scriptural references in support of fornication”
Depends of the translation?

Sermon on the Brokeback Mount got a LOL.
Personally, I’m audaciously hoping to change my beliefs.
“Sermon on Brokeback Mount.” You kill me sometimes.
Romans? That’s in the Old Testament, right? The passage where Paul tries to argue that God shouldn’t wipe out Sodom, because the Sodomites couldn’t get married, and God says “Yeah, but they’re toast anyway; they were rude to My angels”?
I don’t think it should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state.
Yeah, those are called contracts, aren’t they?
I wouldn’t want to be Obama when he dies and runs into Saint Paul:
“So my teachings which were inspired by Christ and which never contradicted anything he said are ‘obscure’? I’ll see you in Hell.”
Well, I support the truth that people who identify as gay should have the same rights as everyone else. And if there could be such a thing as a domestic community or partnership for reasons of survival and committed friendship that would NOT promote or condone fornication, I’d be all for it. It’s not like anyone should be able to legislate loneliness for any person or group.
The problem is, every compromise in that direction supports the homosexual agenda, so every person who wold otherwise benefit (like friends, widowed sisters, elderly unmarried couples who live together in order to care for one another, etc, all lose out.)
I think Obama was probably referring to “Blessed are the merciful”, because he considers allowing abortion and same sex unions as compassionate tolerance. It’s part of the liberal affliction, wherein the heart overwhelms and eventually twists the brain. They don’t see abortion as killing, but if you show them pictures, they charge you with cruelty.
Keep praying. When these same people finally SEE, they are the most zealous pro-lifers.
Meanwhile, Obama, Hillary, and Planned Parenthood work hard to “protect” everyone, especially women, from the truth. Today’s new blue PP “I believe” (Obama inspired?) signs in RI looked very interesting next to the graphic abortion pictures. I believe in what? Tearing babies apart? That, coincidentally, was what the juxtaposition seemed to say…
Sermon on Brokeback Mountain! LOL.
What is worrisome is Obama took aim at DOMA (defense of Marriage Act) saying he will overturn it–if that happens every state that has already passed a state
amendment to define marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman will be overturned–and tax payer $$ used to force the teaching of same-sex unions in schools.
Great post.

Red and Ed: LOL! Thanks for the great laughs!
“I believe in civil unions that allow a same-sex couple to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other,” he said…
Because they can’t? I mean, I don’t know about hospitals where Obama goes, but they’ve become pretty lax on visitation hours and restrictions. When my son was born, I had people show up at 8 pm on Sunday night…
As Scott W said, why bother with those pesky things like living wills and power of attorney when there’s an agenda!
You people are just trying to ruin all the fun he has in store for us! (-*
From what I’ve heard so far on the same-sex union/marriage end in RI, the arguments are about getting to walk down an aisle, having the opportunity to wear a white dress, being unable to afford lawyers fees for a living will, etc, and having to travel ALLLLLLL the way to Massachusetts to be wed.
Nothing REAL, yet.
WOW!!! obama really needs to stop watching movies and read his bible because “the sermon on brokeback mountain” is a correct description of what he is talking about there is nothing in the sermon on the mount that is obscure enough to be translated as “its ok to go against the laws of nature and fornicate then claim that you should be married before the eyes of god like good christians. please obama if you really and truly support gay unions then shut up about being a good christian and show what you really are to the country you want to run!!!!!!!!!!
