Gerald in a post titled The "narrative of the transgendered" writes:
Deconstructionism is entrenched in Academia. Nothing is what it is, only a person’s "narrative" is true. Everything is a construct. Male and female ? Constructs imposed by society. Unfortunately, politicians like Schwarzenegger are either giving in to or promoting the ideology of these fiends. Because they hysterically bitch, people give in to their demands, hoping they’ll go away. Corporations are even more cowardly than politicians, since they can be hurt where it counts. These leftist enemies of society wield power far beyond their numbers. How else could one explain the absurd accomodation of the mentally ill "transgendered" people? If you think to yourself, "Man, I feel like a woman", you’re free to use the women’s restroom. After all, it’s your "narrative", "your truth" that counts, everything else is a societal "construct". This is niftily protected by the BS known as hate crime laws – federal, no less. Mind you, I don’t care if some dude looks like a lady, but you can’t convince me, under penalty of law, that it’s just as "normal". I never had a problem with tolerance, when it meant that you live and let live. But, nowadays, if you don’t accept that 2+4=666, you’re prone to be sent to the re-education camp. It is what Nietzsche called the Umwertung aller Werte – the "re-evaluation" of all values. In order for wrong to be right, right must become wrong.
And then goes on to link to an article in the Opinion Journal "Crossing Over:
What will prevent the 250-pound linebacker from deciding he wants to share the locker room with the cheerleaders?"
Which makes me wonder if people can be transgendered why not trans-race? I mean if biology lies and people who are biologically of one sex and feel that they are another sex can advance this position and seen as perfectly normal why can’t other equal positions be advanced without ridicule? Surely if something like XX and XY karyotypes mean nothing than the amount of melanin in your skin along with other physical racial characteristics also mean nothing if the person “feels” that they are of another race.
I wonder what would happen if someone applied for a minority scholarship at a university even though they were white and then said "I always felt I was a black man and never felt comfortable as a white man." Most likely they would be given directions to the latest psychiatric ward. Too bad they don’t apply the same common sense to those who think they are transgendered and the ridiculous idea that their biology lies. Though if President Clinton could be called the first "black president" by fellow liberals than why can’t others say they belong to some race other their own. Having a problem getting a job because of affirmative action? All you have to do is to find that you feel that you belong to a minority group currently favored by a quota.
In modern liberalism feelings always trump facts which is why those who have a mental illness and think they are transgendered don’t get treatment, but special treatment as a protected class.

A writer in National Review related the time he was faced with some government form, and simply decided to check “Negro/Black”. When the clerk pointed out that he “made an error”, he retorted “You don’t know my mother.”
After all, what is the official definition of “race”
And what about all the people out there who “identify” as elves, or dragons, or vampires? (See “otherkin”)
Ah! But why stop with elves, vampires, etc. Take the absurdity of Deconstructionism to the Final Frontier (TM)!
What if someone says they always felt that they were really part of an alien species, such as a Vulcan or a Klingon. Think of the recipe for chaos that causes from the government forms to…whatever.
I can almost imagine the necessary changes to office rules to handle Klingon uniforms in the office, and the Government forms in that language?
As someone who had a weird sense of humor in high school, I can assure you that the Marines (or their recruiting wing) have no prejudices against people who check the Other box for race and then write in “Vulcan”. They had plenty of interest in me!
(Okay, I also had really good grades, standardized test and ASVAB scores. And the recruiter was working in an Air Force town.)
Of course, nowadays they probably do have to weed out the “smartmouthed kid” and “kid with weird humor” from “kid who really does think she’s a Vulcan”. I’ve met a few of those who have real delusions of elfhood, and said delusion is usually the least of their issues. (Usually adopted to make the other stuff bearable.)
Problem is, there are quite a few people willing to aid and abet such delusions nowadays — cosmetic surgeons, for instance. I’m not sure how said surgeons sleep at night, but they do it on silk sheets. This is fringe now, but will probably get bigger before it gets better.
“In modern liberalism feelings always trump facts”
That’s right, my friend.
I once dated a girl from South Africa. She emigrated here, and checked off “African” on one of those boxes. The Government clerk told her whe was white. She said, no, she was African who happened to be white.
They went back and forth, as the Govt’ employee refused to accept the form as filled out.
This story really opened my eyes to what a contrived system it really is. How white is white? how black is black? Remeber Plessy v. Ferguson?
Halle Berry, according to Britannica Online, was… “the first black woman to win an Academy Award for best actress.”
Was she? Was she notjust as much black as she was white, having a white mother and a black father?
It makes my head hurt thinking about it…
Don’t forget Vanilla Ice, Barack Obama, and Dolf Lundgren, who is clearly really Japanese.
Of course all of those school/government “please describe your ethnicity” questions are racist. “White” and “Black” are not even ethnicities.
The problem is not with deconstruction, which is on its way out as a high academic vogue, but rather (as it always is) with rank-and-file sophomore spastics (in this case, “liberal”) who think mistakenly that you can put -ism on the end of deconstruction, which is a technique, and not a philosophy as such. Derrida, father of deconstruction, is the first to admit that there is no such thing as deconstruction.
I remember wondering, even as a flaming progressive, why it was cool for transsexuals to undergo gender-reassignment surgery but weird and gross for Michael Jackson to undergo race-reassignment surgery. I didn’t quite come around to rejecting the former, but I sure had some reservations about it.
