Media
gaffes when it comes to the Church are often pretty funny such as the case of crow’s ear being substituted for crosier. But American Papist has found a real howler, as he calls it. The media has been working overtime to cast the Pope’s visit in Loreto as an eco-friendly youth rally.
"Intentionally wearing green vestments, [Pope Benedict] spoke to a vast crowd of mostly young people…"
Creative Minority Report gives his own vestment interpretation guide.
American Papist also has good commentary and coverage on what the pope actually said instead of the the spin given it to fit what they want him to mean within a narrow context.
Now it is no surprise that the media interprets so much within environmental terms since they are par of the eco chamber on this issue.

Wow!! What a coincidence! Our priest wore green vestments yesterday, too! 🙂
Shoot, that’s nothing—ours has been wearing them for a couple of months already! 🙂
Peace,

WHAT A HOOT!
MY priest was wearing green too!
Amazing!
Our supposedly Catholic news service here in Australia ran with the intentionally wearing green vestments… headline also. lol
Pope intentionally wears green to show support for dying Muppet.
Papal surrender! Benedict dons white!
Pope wears Target colors; offends Walmart!
etc. 🙂
The media, as usual, is clueless when it come to religion.
It’s not so much the green coloring that bugs me, it’s that the vestements look like they are made of polyester.
Wow—I can hardly wait for the Sunday in Lent when the priest “intentionally” wear pink!!!!
Can only imagine what that will convey to the press.
My eyes nearly rolled all the round when I something in Ha’aretz:
“As if to emphasize that donning a green cloak is not merely a passing fad, even the conservative Pope Benedict XVI wrapped himself in it this week, appearing in a green cape to deliver a forceful environmental address to half a million believers.”
A GREEN CAPE! Sounds like some kind of comic book character.
