Carl Olson covers Hans Kung latest interview and his latest distortions of the Catholic faith and not surprisingly taking the media line on the new CDF document. We also learn that Kung is releasing yet another biography. Once again it is Hans Kung against the Church so he should be called Hans Solo.
Whereas the best theologians have done their theology on their knees, you get the idea that Hans Kung does his in front of a mirror.

Scott: On a more serious note, the problem is that many people, especially poorly catechized Catholics or non-Catholics looking for stones to cast at the Church, are taken in by Kng’s half-truths and lies. So they should be addressed from time to time. My approach, at least on this occasion, was to use a bit of sarcasm, because, indeed, his comments are full of silliness. But it is dangerous and serious silliness. For more about Kng’s antics in recent years, check out this 2004 post by Philip Blosser.
Don’t forget Kung’s obnoxious antics following the death of John Paul II, accusing Cardinal Ratzinger with “manipulating the conclave.”
I didn’t care for that fisk because Kung’s siliness speaks for itself.
I liked that fisk. In fact, I really enjoyed writing it. 😉
Heh…Hans Solo…how about King Kung? You know, because he’s always pounding his chest.
Hans Solo he can’t get any lower?

Fair enough.
Der Spiegel has an article on the last, large Kung’s autobiography (and it is not over yet). B XVI has luckily written only 190 pages on his life. All the problems are caused by the pope’s father, a policeman, while his was a wealthy trader. Can anyone be more racist? Kind regards.

What’s racist about that?
I’m grateful that folks like Carl O will take on folks like this & that you, Jeff, can think of ways to spoof Hans Solo. What makes me so sad is that our Holy Father is villified like this by his old colleague. Rather than call him Hans Solo or King Kung, it seems like he should be called Judas Iscariot.

Dr. Blosser is always a wothwhile read. Thanks for that link. And I concede your point about directly responding to such things.
