The Ark and the Dove links to an article where "Whacky theoretician seriously proposes that there is a 20% chance we are a computer simulation" that appeared in the New York Times.
It does remind me of an excellent article that appeared in This Rock magazine last year for a proof of the existence of God by James Kid. In the article he shows how we can prove the existence of God even if we are a "brain in a vat" or living in a Matrix universe.

There is a near 100% chance that said theoretician is what is called, in psychiatric circles, a kook.
Reminds me of a haunting episode of “The Twilight Zone”. Anyone old enough to remember how the SAME refun of a tv show was the one that would come on, every time you happened to tune in? This one gave me nightmares.
I asked this on my blog, it bears asking again: If I’m a video game sim, who on earth is so bored that they find my life so interesting to play?
It’s Calvinism, only digital!
Joanne, are you talking about the Twilight Zone episode where the housewife wakes up matrix-style in some sci-fi dystopia because of a computer glitch?
Oddly, I only remember the nightmarish part at the end, where the camera pans upwards (from a doll house, maybe?) to show the “real” manipulators.
Nice article
