Tibet’s living Buddhas have been banned from reincarnation without permission from China’s atheist leaders. The ban is included in new rules intended to assert Beijing’s authority over Tibet’s restive and deeply Buddhist people.
“The so-called reincarnated living Buddha without government approval is illegal and invalid,” according to the order, which comes into effect on September 1.
I can imagine a Chinese official at the second coming saying to Jesus "You up there, do you have a permit for that?"

And I’d love to be there to see when what happens when the official is shown that Permit.
“when what”… sheesh… what’s wrong with me today. I need another vacation…
He’ll probably say that since God the Father is not a recognized member of the Chinese Communist Party, the permit is invalid. Remember: though warped by communism, this is the same culture that produced a fairy tale about a monkey who made himself immortal by crossing out his date of death on his file in the Hall of Death (or something to that effect).
I want to see how they’re going to enforce this ruling. And what if it’s an imposter? Is that a felony or not?
Reminds me of a Fundie preacher who tried to ban the Tooth Fairy.
Publius, you’re referring to the ‘Journey to the West’ right?
Yep, ‘Monkey’, as he was known in English, wreaked havoc in Heaven and in the Underworld. One of his exploits was going to the Underworld, beating its guards, confronting the King of the Hells and erasing his and his monkey subject’s name out from the Book where the names of all beings who will die are written.
He actually had/became:
-Long life when he ate the Heavenly Peaches.
-Immortal when he ate the Pills (or Elixirs) and crossed out his name from the book
-A diamond-hard body and fiery golden eyes which can ‘see’ evil when he survived 49 days of being in a cauldron (a sentence given by heaven for his havoc-wreaking; he was expected to melt, but had survived and jumped out of the cauldron)
The line on them asking Jesus if He had a permit captures the arrogance of communism perfectly.

Yep.
Overheard in a Chinese prison:
Inmate 1: So what are you in for?
Inmate 2: Reincarnating without a permit.
Inmate 1: Dang! And they let you in with the general prison population?!
