Jimmy Akin reports that Dr. Francis Beckwith, the president of the Evangelical Theological Society, has returned home to the Catholic Church.
Not surprisingly anti-Catholic apologist James White is not happy about it, though it must not be quite the shock of when his sister Patty Bond crossed the Tiber.

If this were baseball, I would say what a great trade–the Protestant side gets McGreevy and his lover; we get a noted scholar and evangelical leader.
I wonder how close he actually is to believing. I mean, his writing at that link is like a small child who kicks and cries about having to do something because he is afraid he’ll like it too much.
It’s very, very sad to me.
I got to hand it to White, I really am fond of the term “conversioneering”. It has a certain flair to it altogether different from “papist”, “Jesuit”, and “Rome.”
He seems to really hate the “breathless” conversion stories on the Coming Home network. In fact, he gets pretty breathless about it himself.
It is sad that he does not think the reasons converts state for their conversion are not substantive. What could be more substantive than realizing both Solas are un-Biblical?
Hello,
Has Dr. Beckwith himself said anything about his motives? It’d be nice to have some more verification about this story’s authenticity, though I’m taking your word on it and just blogged about it, linking to you.
Thanks,
Alex
