Because the context of your statement seems to be a slam against Archbishop Flynn, as he is our Bishop please allow me to step up and defend him.
Archbishop Flynn stepped into the slop left by Archbishop Roach, who had truly allowed things to go amok. Under the pastoral shepherding of Archbishop Flynn, the seminary has been cleaned up and is getting better by the day. The seminaries are full, vocations for men and women both are blossoming, Perpetual Adoration chapels have exploded, and quite honestly, he’s done a good job.
I don’t think he’s a politician or an administrator at heart; his approach was purely pastoral and I think he tried to come at things differently than the ways some of us would expect or desire. Thus we have a few “black eyes”,but is that truly a surprise? For when great blessings are blossoming, the evil one is always close at hand.
This Archdiocese is in a MUCH better place now that it was when Archbishop Roach moved on.
Now, that said…I can’t wait to see what our coadjutor is going to do with the nationally-acclaimed dissident parishes.
They must be trembling in their rainbow-colored faux-leather birkenstocks right about now.
I am pretty sure what he is talking about is the cleaning-up Nienstedt did in the New Ulm Diocese following Ray Lucker and his love affair with the likes of Called to Action. He is not attacking our beloved Harry. Although I think Bsp. Nienstedt will do well following Flynn’s footsteps.
Andrews right.
The attempt at humor in the title could make you think otherwise thought.
Thanks for the clarification! 🙂
I wonder when Father Altier will be allowed to work as a parish priest again? Is he still at the nursing home?
