Jay Anderson has been maintaining a roundup of people making the link between the support of the legality of the PBA ban and that those same five justices were Catholics. A real doozy is the cartoon that appeared in a major daily newspaper.
Judging while Catholic

I bet you *could* pass those marching orders off as real.
That cartoon isn’t an insult, it’s a badge of honour.
AMEN, Billy HW. I sure hope we don’t start a big Donohue-esque cryfest about how “anti-Catholicism is the last acceptable prejudice,” and blahblahblah. If anyone says a word to me about “Catholic judges,” I will tell them how proud those men have made me to be a Catholic, which defends innocent life even when it’s “un-pc” and uncool to do so, and even when we may be the only people left in the U.S. doing it.
What Justice Kennedy did makes me even happier – he has written some awful abortion decisions, but the presence of his brother Catholics on the bench apparently brought him around. What a great example of evangelization at work!
If they want to say we’re all in cahoots and beholden to Rome, let ’em. I’d answer, “Yeah, ain’t it great?”
(PS-I realize a PBA ban is only a small step, but it’s more than we’ve been able to do before.)
but the presence of his brother Catholics on the bench apparently brought him around.
Actually, he dissented in the previous PBA ruling (which struck down the Nebraska ban as unconstitutional) quite strongly. That was five years before Roberts and Alito were on the court.
