Matt C. Abbott reports that the earliest stage of the cause for beatification and canonization of the late Father John Hardon, S.J., is underway. Fr. Hardon died in 2000. Father Hardon was a great priest and catechist and many of his writings are available on the net.

Thank you for sharing this great news!
Wonderful. Fr. Hardon taught classes to my aunt and the other sisters in Washington DC, when they were preparing to take their final vows as Missionaries of Charity. That would have been in 1994. He was never an idle man!
Woo-hoo! Truly wonderful news. He was my husband’s hero, and he’s become one of mine. Will (husband-man) got to meet him once and go to McDonald’s with him. Fr. Hardon ordered the filet-o-fish.
The mention of the Springfield Diocese and Bishop Lucas sent me on a ‘link rabbit trail’ of sorts which ended on the website of The Roman Catholic Faithful. Are these things true? Is the RCF a legitimate and honest organization? With Hardon’s support I can hardly doubt it but the allegations are so severe I felt the need to ask.
I am in this Diocese you see, and have had at least one really hair raising experience with a priest(re teaching not abuse) at a retreat. Call to Action seems to be the viewed favorably by some in positions of authority in the area. Just some little things that made me wonder if I weren’t in a liberal Diocese but didn’t know how to find out. (Catholic only a few years, I am still learning the ropes.)
How can I keep an eye on what is going on in my Diocese? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Anne, I don’t know the answers to your questions, but of course, Hardon died in 2000 and it’s now 2007, so it can’t be assumed he would approve of the group today. I don’t know anything about the group, or any reason why he wouldn’t, just you’re right to check things out beyond Hardon’s endorsement.
Stephen Brady (of RCF) has proven himself a credible Catholic activist, in my view.
He should be taken seriously.
I knew Father Hardon for around 10years here in the Detroit area and i believe i have some knowledge of the goings on with RCF And Father
Frist he was sympathetic to Mr Brady and was agast at what was happening in Springfield
He did attempt to help Mr Brady and RCF however Father did not council to Mr Brady go public both in how and when he did Counciling him to pray, and wait upon the Lord Instead of seeking to make things happen! the Upshot was Mr Brady was too impatient about the Pope doing something about the situation!
